Official Photography Thread: Vol. ICan'tFindTheLastOne

I bought a little photo studio box that has different color backgrounds. But the problem is when I take pictures, it shows all the wrinkles and creases on thebackground cloth. I want my pictures to be like the picture below, shoes look like they're sitting in the middle of space. Any advice?

I'm planning to save up so that in the next few months I can get my first DSLR. Planning on getting D40x. I know canon just came out with the Xsi,replacing the XTi. Anyone know if Nikon has anything releasing soon to replace the D40x? And where's the cheapest place to get D40x. I know places likeBHphoto and adorama have them for a little over 500. Anywhere I could find one for cheaper? Also, how is the quality of the lens that comes w/ it in the kits,the 18-55mm one? Thanks anyone
 
Someone help me out, can't decide which camera to get. I just got into photography, so dont want to spend way too muc. So, Canon Rebel XT (350D) 8 MP or aNikon D40 6.1 MP?

The Nikon D60 is coming out. its the successor to the D40x. it should be out by the end of February.
 
Hi guys...Man you all can take some incredible pics...I just bought a new lens for my D40x. Nikon AF-S Zoom Nikkor 55-200mm f 4.5-5.6 G IF Lens. Can anyonetell me if this is a pretty nice lens. Thanks in adavance.

Yeah, I've heard a lot of good things about it. They say that the 18-55mm kit lens + the 55-200mm is all you basically need. Unless you want wide anglephotography or macro. I think you should have asked this question before you bought the lens though.

Dudes is lemmings.

This thread is starting to get annoying, granted I know there are a lot of great photographers in here, and a lot of cats that have a genuine interest inphotography that are looking for tips and pointers. But some of you dudes just going overboard with questions that can easily be found with a google search.Maybe its just me, but I only come to NT with a question as a last resort.

been checking this thread out. And dudes are coming in asking everything under the sun. And it also seems like dudes are just taking pics just to betaking them, with little to no passion or simple interest into what they are shooting. We are 2 pages away from people just snappin shots on their cameraphones. And asking "Hey I just got a Sprint Mogul with a 2.0 mega pixel lens is this good? Or should I go with the iPhone?"

^^Unless you're wanting a film camera that doesn't exist... if you want a film camera under $100 I'd be happy to suggest any number of cameras youcould find in near mint condition used for under $100.

This a photography thread not a snap shot thread. I wish people would realize that. There is a difference... I'd be happy to explain with examples fromthis post if people don't understand. No one can critique a picture of a #$@$@%! brick beyond stating the obvious. SELF EDIT. Every picture you takeisn't good. MyTsharp hit the nail on the head. And I've said this before and I was a lot nicer and people didn't listen at all. And clearlythere's nothing to prevent you from not listening this time but nonetheless I'm going to make it clearer. SELF EDIT. If you showed up to one my classcritiques without editing out the dog !#!* photographs everyone takes you'd get laughed out of there. If you want to post every picture you take get aflicker and post the link, people will look if they want to see them. This post use to be my favorite thing on NT and now I #$@$@%! hate it. It's awful,its just bogged down and with dog !#!*. And I realize some of you have developed your skills with and without my help and truly enjoy looking at your work butsome of you kill my soul with the loads of what amount to snap shots. SELF EDIT.
