Official Photography Thread: Vol. ICan'tFindTheLastOne

"i think photoshop is to what dark room is to film photography post process."

That's valid on certain level, but I've been in every kind of darkroom there is from regular b/w to alternative processes to color and trust me whileyou can do similar stuff in some areas your level of control and clearly lack of effects is completely different. I'm not going to knock Photoshop orBridge or Lightroom, they're all completely valid tools, it's all what you do with them. When I scan a film negative, I use Camera Raw in Bridge tocolor correct it, but in a darkroom I can adjust the color almost just as easy, it takes probably 10x as long to see the result but it works the same. No oneis coming out of a darkroom with an HDR.

If you want to do them that's fine. I don't care, I have better things than to do than comment, "that a trite and kitsch gimmick" everytimeone is posted. Just someone asked my opinion. And I saw it, so I answered.

I guess this is another experiment of somesorts. This is another stich of 8 photos.....4 on top and 4 on bottom. I am going to try and to a super big stich today where I can really get a large partfrom the ground to the sky. Hopefully there'll be some blue skies and clouds out when i get off work....

I say if you're gonna stitch ... make it WIIIIIIIIIIIIIDEEEEEEEE.

Otherwise it just looks like a normal snapshot.

On the internet it does at least. I've seen someone do that with medium format film, I never actually saw the print but the file was like 50in x100in at 300dpi so just ignorantly huge and that had to be like 2 negatives tall x 4 negatives wide. I'm actually considering buying a bellows for mycamera so I can change the pitch of perspective so that I can sort of like panoramic but instead of turning the camera on a tripod I'd move it along pathparallel to the face of the lens, but I need bellows to do it how I want it done, otherwise it just becomes like a weird panoramic.

the sudden rise of people (specially ones who are in their teens) getting a dsLr pretty much ruined it for me. i mean ... they expected to become overnight professional with their new camera. most of the ones i know of didnt even appreciate photography but they immediately jumped on the bandwagon just because everyone is buying one.

btw ive known about the mini planet but never really tried it out...only recently that i got a chance to do it.

^ You got a Rebel XT right? I don't think you need to manual focus, your camera has autofocus motors built in. Nice shots also.

@Seattle

Are you also using a D40 with the nifty fifty? Up the aperture so more of the subject is in focus (unless that's what you intended for the rifle shot).Nice and sharp though bro.

im using a rebel xt, for the rifle shot i was messing around with the manu-focus for that "blurred-to-the-sides-focused-in-the-middle" look.wanted the focus on the round being chambered.
