The XT is an excellent DSLR for those just getting into digital photography. Play around with the different setting until you understand how to use all thecamera's features. Depending on what range and what type of photography you'll be doing, look for lenses to team up with your XT. I was also in thesame boat as you but am now moving on to a 40D with a 17-40 F/4L...I can't wait.

appreciate it, yea I plan on gettin into film soon so I wanted to start with photography first and basically learn the fundamentals now...

someone else recommended the Panasonic LX2 but i'll recommend it again for emphasis. it's a really great camera but it might not be what you'relooking for if you want something slim and pocketable. The LX2 is quite bulky for a point and shoot but the pictures it takes are in a class of it's ownand the only cameras even sort of comparable are the Ricoh GR Digital or the Canon G9.

^^^It's just a panoramic….about 6 photos. I just took the photos holding the camera vertical rather then horizontal as usual. So by the end of it, it justlooks like a fisheye lens and not a normal panoramic. It came out cool but a lot of work compared to just snapping it out of a fisheye lens.
And the 40D is better then the XT. I believe it is a full frame camera (correct me if I am wrong and I kind ofcan't google for it since I am at work) but more important for me, it shoots more frames per second %#* apposed to the XT. Plus a Canon fisheye (if it is afull frame) looks way better on it…..

Nah, the 40D has a 1.6x crop like the XT. The only full frame DSLRs Canon offers are the 5D, and the 1Ds series cameras. The 1D cameras have a 1.3x cropbut have a faster FPS rate.

aren't you supposed to shoot pano's vertically? jw, bc i was taught to shoot vertically rather than horizontally

I am probably the idiot that didn't know any better. I always shot panos with the camera horizantal just cause my old point and shoot kind of conditionedme to since that was the only option that it had. It makes sense to shoot vertical.......more height in the picture but you really have to shoot wide....

yeah, i did the same before too though.. helped me shoot less frames and all but i'd lose a little bit above and under the horizon

Im new in this forum.I bought myself 2 days ago a Nikon D60 its my first DSLR.Before this i got a Digicam ( Samsung Digimax L70 )
so everything is a little bit new for me. I took a lot of pictures with the D60 and i was wondering how the reflection on the picture happend, cause its notthe only picture with a reflection.
is it because of the bright light ? or is it because of my lens filter ?

btw: im from europe ( germany ) but life in the US ( twin cities ) and i know my english is not perfect, but i hope you could understand my question.
im happy for every answer.Thanks

I know how that is, i actually have my nifty fifty coming in tomorrow by Fedex. I was off all week this week from work and of course it comes tomorrow, theday i work
