Yay, Its a good compact camera, but you know the G10 is out.

Yeah do you know if it is worth the priced difference to get the g10?
I would say go for the G10. The wider angle lens alone, is a decent upgrade. From 35mm to 28mm, its quite a difference. Take a look at thesecomparisons.

whats up ive been browsing this post quietly and now its my time to voice my opinion

1st off there are many great pics in here big ups to all of those who take the time to go out and take the picures with acknowledgment of lighting, exposure, composition, colors, etc. keep doing your thing. but there are also some not so great pictures (not calling anyone out) but to become good or even great atsomething you must have some bad moments and thats where positive criticism comes into play. For all of you that see these kind of pictures and say things suchas "your pictures suck" or "i dont like your pictures" give them a reason why you dont like your pics (more of Whats wrong with it and whatthey should do to make them better next time rather than "stop taking pictures") all of you are not professionals so fall back on the harshtreatment, give them positive criticism it helps everyone.

2nd what is it with this crap about NT>ISS and ISS>NT who gives a $#!+ if you dont like ISS dont go on it and if you dont like NT dont go on it. simpleas that. If a dude from ISS comes on NT and post good pics give him props, dont give him $#!+ cuz he posts elsewhere. when he posts here he is from/on NT andvice versa

3rd (dont take this as me calling you out or any body else) but ebay lighten up man I understand that photo is your "life" and everyone that picks upa camera isnt a professional, but just a person who picked up a camera. and you probably know a whole lot more about most of this stuff than most on here, butyou dont have to come off as pompous *** and you know more than evryone on here ,even if you do. Ignorance is bliss but arrogance is not. Im not going to ie Urpictures are really good but let them speak for themselves because they can. like i said earlier im not tryin to call you out just calling it how i see it froman indifferent POV.
if dude takes pics and people are willing to pay for them let the man do his thing in the words of Sean Carter "you cant knock the hustle". isnt thatwhat a businesses is? if some one has a service that others are willing to pay for why not. let them pay. but your point was "what qualifies him?" intechincal terms? nothing (maybe but only he knows) but in real life? the fact that he takes good pics and people know that he does.
AGAIN your pictures are nice and you know it but they look better when they dont have the artist behind them saying ive sold others like it for {insert dollaramount here} then it just sounds like billy mays in a commerical for oxyclean and you come off as arrogant. and thats not a good look.

4th Why would one put rules on the thread its for fun and for others to critique and voice opinions. the only rules that should be in effect are the NT rulesand if you dont have any thing positive to say then dont post. I dont understand how one could actually say dont post too many pictures when i dont see anycomplaints when people post several pics in a row in the booty thread or breast threads.
The theme of the month/week is a good idea because it helps give ideas as to what to shoot and gives us practice.

AGAIN i DONT want to come off as one sided NOR am i trying to call anyone out just getting this stuff of of my chest because the last 15 pages have been filledwith E-beef.

sorry for such a long post i usually dont like when long post happen unless they are filled with pics but i felt like it had to be said. SORRy if I offenedanybody because those were not my intentions

Keep the Great pics and not so great pics coming after all it is a photography class, i mean thread

That's what's up, Robbie; bring a little bit of our city into this thread.

Maybe you can help me. Do you know of anywhere where I can find a Digital Rebel XT kit for cheap?

For all of you looking to buy DSLRs. Don't trust websites with "packages" priced so low. You should know better if something is too good to betrue when compared to what it costs for retail.

Here are the website I recommend you shop from:
amazon.com
bhphotovideo.com
adorama.com
17photo.com
47stphoto.com

If you want to shop for used photography gear, check out:
fredmiranda.com (it's a forum, so you have to sign up and send PMs)

For reviews on Canon lenses and gear, I recommend you visit these sites:
http://www.the-digital-picture.com/http://www.the-digital-picture.com/(reviews on lenses, bodies and other accessories)
http://www.photozone.de/canon-eoshttp://www.photozone.de/canon-eos (reviews onlenses for APS-C sized sensors)

For those of you looking to get cropped bodies like the XT, XTi, XS and XSi...I believe buying them new would be fine. Those looking for pro-sumer bodies andL-lenses, it's best to get them used. Especially the 40D and 5D whose prices have dropped significantly due to the release of the 50D and 5D Mark II.

I'd go with the G9. I know people who sold their G9s to buy a G10 only to regret it later.

Some dock under the Bay Bridge.

what was the shutter speed on this photograph?
I stitched together 3 images that were at f/9 with a 20 second exposure.
AND i think i met you at a club yesterday. I was covering the event.
If not I'm hella moded. haha

Whee!! New old lens toy! Probably should have thought of putting a solid colored canopy above it when I took the pic of the front element. Oh, well. Lessonlearned.

Hi guys.

I'm thinking about buying my first SLR and I think I'll buy either Canon EOS 400D or 450D. Which do you prefer?

Thanks.

Took this today at the beach.

Any suggestions for improvement are better. There are some drop dead gorgeous pics in here, I'm trying to get on that level someday.
