As fot the questions that was asked, i PS the living hell out of all my photos and for now, I only use a kit lens and shoot just for web purposes. I crossedover and use ISO 1600 a lot now.

Just a college student right now. I traded my hobby of collecting sneakers (thus the reason why I'm here) for photography. Way too expensiveto keep both. I picked up the Macbook because my Toshiba laptop struggles to handle CS3, Camera Raw, Bridge and other necessary programs at the same time.Working with RAW files on a slow computer is not fun. I'm hoping to sell my Rebel XT, 40D, 17-55, 50 f/1.4, 70-200 f/4L, 430ex, Sigma 10-20 and a bunch of shoes after Christmas break to fund another 5D (maybe a Mark II), 24L and 50L to complete my trinity.

Hopefully I'll have the following gear by the summer:

5D Mk I*
5D Mk II
24 f/1.4L
50 f/1.2L
85 f/1.2L*
100 f/2.8 Macro*
24-70 f/2.8L*
70-200 f/2.8L
580ex*

*denotes items I own

If I can't save up for it all, I'll be happy with just a 5D and the 3 primes.

I photograph for my Filipino student organization here at Purdue so most of my pics are composed of our member and I don't exactly want to post those.Hopefully I can contribute more photos to this thread when I go to Toronto for Christmas break.

Rap Sizzle, you'll love the Mac. Got my aluminum book when they came out and i love it. Sick pick up altogether too.

I am sure if people looked at their kicks collection and sold it, you could cop a new camera and some no problem.....but you might be walking in some dumb crapfor a while. I have that struggle to this day but I think its about to happen sooner or later......

not that i can afford, but the lenses you're letting go off.. how much are you asking for? im just curious, if you dont want it posted onhere you can pm me. prime lenses are still my fave on my film system, aint no way i can afford the L-series primes for now. how do your primes compare to your17-55 or 70-200? i mean i know primes are much better but is the difference day and night or rather more subtle?

just like everyone else...

idk if i should sell my sneaks to fund my photography high. lol what do i do1?!?1

The 17-55 and 70-200 are both ridiculously sharp wide open. The reason why I'm willing to get rid of them is the 17-55 is an EF-S lens andI'm going completely full-frame. The 70-200 is amazing for its price but f/4 is not enough for low light photography. Since I do event photography, I wantto go all prime because I love to isolate my subjects. Plus I prefer shooting with available light rather than using flash. Some of the L-primes aren't assharp wide open but this is understandable with such wide apertures. Not a big deal for me since I need the blur to isolate. Oh and not to mention, theL-primes have amazing bokeh.

I'll be flying to Toronto on Friday and will be there until January 10. If you're interested in meeting up in downtown, we can probably work out adeal. However, since I'm only in Toronto to visit, I won't have any of the boxes. If you PM me now and let me know which ones you're interested in,I can bring the warranty cards with me. The 17-55, 70-200, 430ex, Sigma 10-20 were all bought brand new back in September so they're all pretty new and areall still under warranty.

As for my Mac, I have a friend whose getting me the entire Adobe Creative Suite 3 for free. I'm willing to pay hundreds of dollars for a lens but not forthe necessary software to process the photos

Exactly. A lot of guys on here buy 2-3 pairs every month and that can really add up. Whatever income it was they were using to buy those shoescould be saved up to buy a really good lens or camera body. I saved up till the end of the semester to pickup all this gear and the wait is definitely worthit.

Do it Gabe. Retiring from sneaker collecting was one of the best decisions I've made. Not only is photography going to take up less space inyour closet but it's a hobby that you can use the rest of your life. You'll be able to capture amazing photos of your friends, family (maybe kids inthe future), places you visit and pretty much moment you want to remember and cherish. Should you decide to get really deep into the photography world, youcould probably even do photography for a living or extra income. Oh and used lenses have a lower depreciation in comparison to used sneakers.

Hey Rap Sizzle, you mentioned that your selling a 430ex flash. Is this a 430exii or a 430ex. PM me if your really selling it and tell me a price you want.

Rap Sizzle- I have a question, If you already had a canon 40d why did you buy the 5d? I know its full frame and its specs are just a tad bit better. Whywouldn't you just save for the 5d Mk I? just curious

Rap Sizzle great pickups. I have the 5d and the 24-70L its a great lens and investment I shoot with that lens all the time its heavy but its a great lens.

I'm taking that you meant to say Mark II? To be honest, I was really tempted to get the 5D Mark II but after thinking about it, I decided tospend the extra grand on another lens (in this case the 24-70). I love my 40D and 17-55 combo and that's the reason why I haven't sold them yet. The 5Dthough performs much better with high iso needed for low-light photography and after picking up the 24-70 and testing it out, I've decided go completelyfull-frame. Note: Having the 17-55 on a crop body and the 24-70 on a full-frame is a bit redundant and I by selling the 17-55, 40D and a few other lenses,I'll be able to buy the 24L and 50L.

Like many of you in the last page, I'm thinking on how am I going to afford all the lenses I want. I don't even know if I need them, but I def wantthem.

I was looking at all the shoes I can sell ..
One of my moguls ...
Clothes ....
Plus saving .. LMAO

I'm also wondering if I take a class (Photography) would I be able to claim some of those lenses on my taxes, classified as class material .. LOL

I know I know .. scheming but I'm sure something can be done ...

All I know that the kit lens at time takes some crazy good pics and at times they are just horrible .. Plus I notice the brightness is just not there oncertain colors/areas - I.E. RED

Which brings me to my next task - Getting to know PS CS3

lens > camera (most of the time)

A few pictures of my trip up to Vegas over the weekend. Took a lot of shots but i'm too lazy to upload all of them so heres a few. All of these were takenhandheld cause i forgot my tripod, i gave myself the

when i realized i forgotit. Very slight blur in a few of them cause all of them being night shots but like i said all handheld shots. Couple pics of the Christmas decorations insidethe Bellagio, really nice in there but busy as hell.
