Official Photography Thread: Vol. ICan'tFindTheLastOne

ive just been so comfy doing it all at school, but eventually i think i will. i'm moving up to sac state next year, when that happens i'll probably dothat.

i'm crazy paranoid about how the shots will look tho..the lens is actually blurry to a certain extent. aagghhh

like fogged when you look into the lens? or blurry when you look into the ground glass?

But having someone else process your B/W is like having someone come to your house to change a light bulb. Shoot like B/W CN if you're going to get B/Wfilm professionally processed, it's same price as color (cause technically it is) which should be cheaper than B/W at most professional film processingplaces.

his dad did. but for i dont know how long, it's just been sitting. ill definitely post these up after i get the prints out.

i'm about to head out, though. thanks for the help again, EBAY!!

trying to learn this D80 is harder than i thought.

for some reason, the pics arent coming out as sharp or as vivid or as bright as my D50.

i really dont know how to use this thing. haha i thought it would be as easy to use as the D50.

also, the pop-up flash isnt as good as the one on the D50. is that because the D50 is 1/500 and the D80 isn't?

idk. someone hit me up with a pm please? haha

i hope i dont regret buying this D80... i might be though... lol

edit: should i shoot on medium instead of large on my d80?

My 1st HDR shot .. I hope I'm not flooding the thread with all my pictures, but I'm addicted .. Just drive to find a shot .. LOL

trying out some expired fujicolor superhq 200 that i picked up off the local swapmeet
the rest are on my flickr if you wanna check them out.

i'm having a problem with my D80 vivid setting.

these pictures are both on vivid but the D80 is more saturated than the D50 and i don't like that. is there any way i can compensate that without usingphotoshop? i like the not as harsh look of the D50 rather than the overly saturated look of the D80.

i really don't like my D80 right now. what a waste. hahaah

Why though? I looked at your "test" pics on flickr, and they look similar. lookes like you turned up the saturation on the D80 to themax. how long did you mess with it?

i've been messing with it for a while.

they're similar, but the D80 is SUPER saturated. lol i put it on the same "Vivid" setting in the menu.

when i go to "Normal" in the D80, it's not saturated at all to as where the D50 is.

i'm so lost

i just find that my images on my D50 are a lot clearer than they are on the D80.

i guess the D80 was an impulse buy. haha

^^ Dude - I have yet to take a picture that I'm impress with - I seen other peoples picture and I'm amazed .. at the end of the day all I can say tomyself is that "It's user error" .. lmao

I'm pretty sure I give my equipment to someone else and they pull of some wonderful shots, vices me when I look at them I'm trying to find out why theyarent as crips or clear or vivid or etc .. Leaves me wondering #!* am I doing .. lmao!

Just keep playing with it .. settings are not cast in stone - what might of have worked for the D50 might not work for the D80 therefore you have to find whatreally makes it work ..

P.S. I think my best "sharpest" picture is of a prezel that I took while trying to get correct shutter for the lighting .. aint that something .. lol

^ word i know what you mean.

but there's just something about the D50 that just draws me to it and i cant get away from it. haha
the main reason why im looking to sell it is becuase i borrowed money from my girlfriend's sister (because i'm selling shoes and i'm gettingbasically "guaranteed" money) but DUDE FREAKING FLAKED ON ME. so now im gonna be short like $100 haha. so yeahh i'm just looking for money now.

stupid impulse buys....

depends. although there are a few photographers i know that work in africa and other exotic photographic places, and they take 50GB+ of pics permonth's trip; they obviously are very busy all the time and cannot spend time editing (since their time abroad is literally money), therefore all their $$$is spent on new technology which makes it so that they don't need to do much, if any, post-editing.

i hope they turn out decent, i always loved looking a photos in that SQUARE FORMAT..especially in FILM
yes! square film is deliciousness, especially from my yashica (mat-124 like yours). i love the non-sharpness of it, lomography ftw. however idon't know much about TLR's, i've only recently started reading about them.

vividness can be changed when you're editing on any program, but i'm not sure what you mean by "it's not as sharp" as yourd50...are you using the autofocusing correctly? or are you focusing too closely? also what do you mean the pop-up flash isn't "as good," do youmean that it doesn't go as far, or...? let me know and i *may* be able to help. lastly - what do you mean should you shoot medium instead of large? are youtalking about photo size? your post is completely confusing, no offense
laugh.gif
if you're talking about size, then shoot whatever size you want, i usually shoot as large as possible so if i need to make large prints lateri'll be able to do so with the least compromise in sharpness. but if you're going to keep them on the computer, medium, or even small, should beperfectly fine.

hmm this doesn't seem like a good HDR composition; usually it's shot where colors are really wild in person (sunset, sunrise). the background here is adark cloudy sky, not really HDR material. however the final pic looks fine (i love star lights!), it's just not really something to use HDR on. i'vepersonally have had difficulty with HDR, i've been a bit lazy recently with digital and have been mostly shooting medium format film for an upcominggallery, but i'll try to do some new HDR pics soon...

there is a vividness setting on most nikons, and you should be able to tune vividness down by turning down that setting. i've found that canons don'thave this problem which is probably the only reason i'd get a canon over a nikon (dSLR wise).

yea if you're satisfied with the d50, STICK WITH IT!!! i've told people a million times, it's not really "upgrading" acamera if you don't like it. stick to the medium that you know and can max it out. cameras are simply a means to and end, not an end to themselves, so ifyou don't like how the means are, then you should definitely stick with the means that you like (in this case, your d50). i "upgraded" to filmmedium formats because i really like square photos, and i personally love natural landscapes, and film gives me what i want: great colors and definitions andshadows without breaking the bank or with a lot of editing.

IMO, especially as an amateur, the most important end product is a picture YOU like, not what someone tries to sell you, what some "professional"knows and tries to impose on you.

Mjbetch...You should be investing in a lens or looking at D90/D300/D700 if you want to upgrade your camera.

i don't think this is a smart idea, he already seems to have trouble with the slightly more functions in the d80; any of those you listedwould be a downgrade in terms of how his photographs would turn out. i recommend getting to know your camera before deciding on what functions you really need,or you'll basically be wasting money on the newest products without using those functions to their intentions.
