As you see all those picture have a different border because as I was re-sizing and making borders I was playing with the effects - Thus far I dont like anybut one and thats all white with a thiner black outter - Kind of like this but the other way around

I'm not sure if you can see it because you have your monitor calibrated and I dont (Not sure if that makes a difference) but you have somesensor dust - I know because lately I been looking for that a lot since I notice the same spot on many of my pics - but yeah you have about 7-8 that I can see.

Not sure if you have less but because of that dodge thing you said it multiplied it - but def noticeable

Im just windering if a Nikon D60- is a good camera to strart out on...im plannaing on copping one this week along with an extra lens....

Any ideas or comments are welcome to help me out

thanx

Yeah.....I think we need a sticky for this but a Nikon D60 or Canon XTi or XS are perfect beginner DSLRS. Go for it homie...
And what is up with the Mark II photo? Believe it or not after getting the D90, I have gotten so much crap for it by Canon lovers. It's actually prettyfunny but interesting where people stand with brands.

Cheapest place that I know for D90 body:

So I don't mind hearing others view - It's funny because I was thinking the same thing about the light but then I was like eff it .. just leave it and sure enough someone had a comment on it .. so IMO attention to detail is important - However, sometimes what ones think makes a picture - breaks it for others .. So at the end of the day its to anyones interpretation. In this case I agree with you - Also on that day I don't know if it was cloudy or there was no clouds - but I couldn't find a formation anywhere, how do you do that dodge/burning?

Another one for you to critic and once I learn that DoDge method I'm going to try and fix it and see if its more appealing ..

a lot of photographers will do "series" of photographs, which then makes it easier for the viewers to see what's going on. therewill also often be descriptions, so that you may better see what the photographer's trying to do. standalone pictures i feel have less "depth" inthat, like you said, they are more open to interpretation. it's almost like the difference between a race-bred car, vs. an everyday driver. if you'renot going to be super-specific, you will end up making a lot of compromises (more seating room means less engine room but more comfort, bigger body equals moreair drag but more safety, etc).

there were very wispy clouds out on the day i took this photo, very stereotypical for a cloudy seattle day. i burned them in a bit, so you can see theirwispyness. dodge/burn, as i'm sure you know, is simply a function on PS's left-hand side tools; play around with it, it takes a while to get used to.i'm still not completely comfortable with it either! can't wait for you to dodge and burn that pic you showed, seems like there is a lot of promisethere, for reasons i won't state just yet!

i've come to realize that the best borders are the simplest, in this case egg-white and charcoal gray for me.

i've had sensor dust for a few months now, ever since coming back from brazil, but i've not been shooting enough digital to care, i just patch them onevery pic that i keep, which isn't much. thanks for pointing them out though, i've just been negligent in my personal work, i'll correct it ASAP

Yeah, the Mark II pic was kind of funny... Only people I've noticed hate on the D90 are like you said, Canon users. Some Nikon people alsodislike it cause they think video mode is a gimmick, which is arguable. Most Nikon heads praise the D90 though.

Yamakazi...(even though it wasn't for me) thanks for that critic.

this is probably the main reason why I come here and other photography forums, not just to look for pictures but as well as reading comments and critics aboutother peoples work. I agree with what you said about clouds and making the sky more interesting. During my trip to Japan I took a whole lot of pictures wherethe sky would be too bright and overexposed and made me feel that it ruined my shots, I wasnt quite sure on how to fix so i tried cropping the bright skycompletely with the magic wand and overlaying the said image over a shot of sunset or horizon that i took.

As much as i tried to make the pictures look natural after replacing the overexposed sky I cant seem to fix it and my pictures looked like the are"potatoshopped" (what i call pictures that looked over ps'ed) I would post a couple of my potatoshops but I am at work...most of them lookedcrappy until I remember that i have the burn and dodge tool. lol. then I also ran across a ps plug-in made by alien-skin where you can overlay different kindsof sky/clouds over your picture. I am still trying to leard how to use it but it seems that it looks better and with practice I can probably make it looknatural as well.

I used to have this flash video that pretty much goes in depth on how to use photoshop, manipulating pictures and using PS basic tools to create, mist, water, reflections etc. It was a really good video I learned a whole lot about photoshop after watching it. I know there's a couple of people here that wants tolearn about PS and other adobe tools. Once I find that video I will post the title and I am pretty you guys can find a way of "finding" the videosome where.

^^^No doubt. Imo, I would go for a Canon XS or XSI over the D60. That is just me though.

And okay...what the hell. I did not know you can mount Nikon lenses on a Canon body if you bought an adapter. I am not sure who would actually do that butinteresting to me none the less..

You can but they'll be completely manual.

So now that I'm on the way to upgrading from my XT. I think I'm going to get a 50D instead of a 5Dii.

Simply because I don't have the 3,000 to spend on the camera alone. And I can take 2000, get the body, and a decent 24-70 2.8 Ljumpoff. And have money to spare for a battery grip, extra battery and some lighting equipment.

I really want the 5d for the full frame capabilities, and the fact that its a little sharper than the 50D. But the 50D performs better in low light from whatI've been researching. And I can work my way around any other issue.

So lookout for the XT to be on sale soon.

depends! since you're asking, i'm assuming you're a beginner. this is a decent beginner camera, other than the d40 or d60 from nikon,or canon rebels.

do you do photography full time? IMHO, if you aren't, you really don't need all of that. if you *do* do photography full time, then good luck man!

Hey MyT -Are all those shots you did for Stussy taken with an XT? If so, cool. Just got my XSI and those are the types of photos id like to start taking.

yamakazi18 - thanks for the compliment. I love the color isolation feature as well, but you pointed out my favorite picture of the bunch too (italian kidsplaying soccer). I agree that its timeless and just so.....italian..haha

I got a couple PM's asking me about the color isolation feature. I'm sorry, but i gave my Canon SD750 to my girl so i dont have it in front of me togo step by step. I know that the actual name of the feature is called Color Accent. You should be able to find it on the screen when you hit the menu button. Once you select the feature, the screen should start blinking colors I believe, then you point to a color with your camera, press "left" on thescroll, and tehn hit DISP. to set the color.

Sorry if that explanation sounds confusing, but ill try to find/edit to make it more concise.

Yeah I'm planning to start doing photography on a more professional basis in 2009. I'm currently getting all my tax papers together to make itlegitmate.

And "Kicks R Me", I did all those shots with the XT and the kit lens surprisingly, my 50mm broke from being dropped and the 35mm didn't reallyfit with wjat o was trying to do.
