Official Photography Thread: Vol. ICan'tFindTheLastOne

Question: wheres the cheapest site online where i can buy a Canon speedlight 430ex or 430ex II.... is it on amazon.com?

+ Tutorial site for "tips/how to" of the speedlight? besides playing with it.

THANKS

brooklynnyc300, not sure if you meant it that way but your second pic is interesting. Like there is a sense of emotion there, as if you either don't havemoney (I think that is a wallet) or found out that you were one number short on winning the super lotto. I am not really that into staged photography myselfbut it's not a bad shot considering. It is kind of nice that people have a sense of meat in their photos instead of just shooting whatever (and I amdefinitely guilty of that since most of my photos are just random stuff).

Saw this on Hypebeast: http://hypebeast.com/2009...-springsummer-collection/

I thought they were some good photos for a look book thing.

Yeah. I just got mine a week ago and the cheapest I found the Mark II for was $240 from amazon. If you don't mind a Mark I, then look around. I rememberPM'ing Rap Sizzle about his 430ex for sale and it was $190 shipped. I'm not sure how much Mark I's go for though.

My dude you just stole my thunder ...

I'm not much of a photographer myself, but when I was reading nealraj006 comments about brooklynnyc3000 pictures I thoght something different - "I see something serious on those pictures" except the dogs of course ..

I mean the 1st picture alone doesn't say anything but when I looked at the second picture, I saw nothing but emotions (Sadness) and suicide thoughts ..Fong I don't think thats a wallet, at least to me it looks like a box cutter and the box cutter being the closes subject followed by him in a emotionalposes .... well that's what comes to head .. then I through the 1st picture in the mix and looks like he is having a hard time and his mind is runningwhile and suicides looks like the best bet in his mind ....

but of course thats what I see and I interpret the mood, I like the pictures and I think he did a good job. But I haven't read no fancy books or takenany classes, its what I just see and my interpretation of his pictures ..

elboricua...Good observation. I like the second pic personally, although like Fong, I am not very much into staged photography or takingpictures of people and I mostly take just take pictures of random things and panos. I haven't taken any classes as well, but from I see the 2nd picturedoes show a lot emotion. I think it will make a pretty good suicide prevention or a anti-depression campaign poster. lol. It's great picture IMO, butthere is a couple of things that throws it off...first is the car on the right side and second is the brances right above it. I dont know it bothers me forsome reason
ohwell.gif
Other than that it is a great and interesting picture.

Question to the some of the pros here on board...or just to someone who might have a clue.

Just before I left Japan...I kinda slipped in to a Gheisha photoshoot. I think they were shooting for a calendar or something. I was walking around the parkand I see a bunch of photographers walking, at least 50 of them...so I followed them and I see Gheisha girls posted in different parts of the park. So with myhandy dandy D40, nifty-fifty and my 18-200mm I joined them and started taking pictures. eventually I got kicked out because I didnt have one of thosefancy-schmancy tags that everyone had. Am I allowed to post them here and Flickr or would I need some king of photo or model release from their agency? Idont know I dont want to get sued.

^^^^I don't think you can get sued unless you use them for commercial use or something. The worst thing that can happen is a cease and desist order but Iwould say just post it up here just for observation use.

And after looking at that pic, I can see the box cutter. The monitors at my work are crap so everything is way darker then it is.

Some of my contribution...

It would have been awesome if the van said "kid loves" instead...haha

Damn, you went with Nikon??? I'm disappointed with the other Canon heads on here for failing to do some convincing. Oh well...good luck withthe new gear and happy shooting.

Sizzle....I've been I am bobbing and weaving all morning. I find myself tilting my head on the 4th photo in one direction, only to tilt it again the otherway on the last picture. Breakin' my neck dude...haha.

And does anyone have camera bags for there camera? I figured I might as well invest in one since whenever I put my camera in current Stussy one, it seems toget scratched up for some reason. I checked out some the other day at Wolf and saw some decent ones. It's like buying another damn camera again cause thereare so many different ones from sling bags, regular backpacks, ninja turtle shell looking ones......it is so hard to choose. Anyone have recommendations?

Was interested in this one so far:

Thanks for the comments guys.

Fong, how much gear do you have? If you're on a budget and want a good place to carry your body and lenses around...I recommend getting the Lowepro Novaseries. Check out eBay stores for some BINs. They have free shipping + no tax
smile.gif
. I keep my gripped 40D with 3 lenses, 1 speedlite and multiple AA rechargeablebatteries in a Lowepro Nova 4. I keep my 5D and other lenses in a Lowepro Stealth Reporter D300 AW. I love Lowepro bags since most of them have a weathercover. If you want a more casual look I suggest you look at the Crumpler Million Dollar series. I was really close to getting a Crumpler MD 7MDH on sale but Iwant the "photojournalist" look that Lowepro shoulder bags offer. Besides, I wouldn't look to casual carrying my gripped bodies and L-lensesaround. Check out cambags.com for reviews and how much you can fit in certain bags. The site is poorlystructured but it does give you some helpful photos.

I can post photos of my bags later.

Dude .. You keep beating me to the punch .. lmao

I was going to say that #4 is my favorite picture .. the angle and what it says = perfection IMO .. lmao .. like it a lot ..

all the shots are nice but that one just gets my attention every single time ..

Fong as far as the back .. I been looking for sometime now .. I have 5 lens that I be hauling around all the time .. so I was looking at the Lowepro MiniTrekker .. I seen the one you provided, but I don't like that still of back .. I rather have something I know is going to be stable on my back if I everdecided to go hiking or something .. plus I don't see where I can put a tripod ..

Thanks for that camerabag.com link. Pretty dope site and I like how they break things down with pics in their reviews. Well, I really just want something smalland light weight. I have no lenses as of yet and even only really want one lens as second but don't really see myself getting that anytime soon cause offunds. I think the Lowepro Flipside 200 or 300 are a bout right. Pretty much the backpack version of what I posted above and it has the option to carry atripod which is something I see myself getting soon since I like doing night time photography.

Sup Dom....yeah, still have it for sale. Making some major selling stuff happening over the weekend so let me know if you are interested.

It might not stop there. If don't end up getting the 5D Mk II and get this 1D Mk III instead, I might pickup a G10 just for video. Ireally need to sell my other stuff before doing all this though.

The Flipside series are pretty good. If you're not constantly switching lenses like I do, a Flipside should do the job. Take note though, thetripod holder is really meant for monopod and very light tripods. The Minitrekker and Computrekker series are more ideal for heavier tripods.

As for camera bag I usually lug around 2 bags. 1 camera bag (canon bag with canon 5dmkII 85mm 1.8 24-105mm 4L 70-200mm 2.8L batterys remote triggers andchargers) and 1 back pack with a mini sony bag inside with my canon xt 18-55mm 50mm 1.8 just in case something happens while at a shoot. Heres my canon bag. I paid 50 for mine at my local cam store.
