Me and the D90 needed some time to think about our relationship...

well was it a good choice?
Well... Yes, and No.

The Obvious reasons, downgrade in image quality, no interchangeable lenses, Horrible low light quality, etc.

Reasons that made me do it were, Portability, Decent image quality for a P&S, Good Macro (Yes, I among the minority that enjoys getting all up in mysubjects nostrils... I would have needed a $600 lens to do this on a DSLR but then again, it comes with its negatives)

I definitely don't regret returning the D90 and getting the G10 instead. I'm gonna keep the G10 for a while, learn, shoot, and then get a DSLR...again... when I have more money.

I soooo need a DSLR. I been workin with a point n shoot for the longest and damn it's just not cuttin itanymore

For shots like this would a Macro lens be the best option?

I took this one with my Nikon d40 the kit lens. i'm still a noob

.but i think i'm getting a hang of the manual settings.

^ nice shot backtotheknown but it would've been better if you had cropped it so it would be in the middle and not tilted to the left.

still a nice though.

That's how much I paid. It's the cheapest price I saw. Make sure to get a diffuser, whether it be a Gary Fong or a Sto-Fen, it doesn't reallymatter. But a diffuser is really helpful in taking portraits.

Oh, and nyrican23, I thought yours had a JDM front clip. My bad

But it's still clean.

i have a canon rebel eos, my family got it but no body likes it. we like to use the regular digital cams. any idea how much i can get for it?

You want to check the white balance too - that looks way too cold. You need to compensate for the type of light you are shooting in.

Should look more like this:

It's not perfect because you can't always do it after the shot - but it's lost that really blue tinge that was there before.

Tripod question I'm pretty set on the Manfrotto 190xb. I just can't decide on what to get. So, pan-and-tilt or ballhead?

I need the tripod for night shots and panoramas and occasionally portraits. It just seems like the pan-and-tilt would be easier for panoramas since you keep 2axis steady while panning. But everywhere I look, people seem to be recommending ballheads. I know its lighter and more convenient. But for my purpose, whatwould you guys recommend?

I'm using a Sony A300 btw.

I don't know what to recommend but I have 190XProB and 488RC2 and I love it .. While doing my research I can tell you that this combination was theoverwhelming favorite and suggested. I believe a few people here has it as well .. but I have yet to do a pano so I cant tell you from experience

that reminds me .. pano to do next ..
happy.gif
.. I have to figure out how to do it though

I think I'm going to end up getting the 190XB with the 486RC2 head. I don't want to spend too much money right now. I have grad school looming nextfall.

yeah and its only what $200 .. pretty good if you ask me .. nice and stable sometimes the ball can roll a little but Im not sure if its me not tighten up sothats why I dont blame it .. pretty nice and hi too

Is the XProB max height 57.5" as well? I'm around 5'9-5'10, so I figured the 190 series might be a bit short.

offlineakf0dy7: The 18-55mm kit lens it considered a "macro" lens as well as "wide angle". Because mine (the D40X) is 10mpI use it as a walkaround lens because I can pretty much crop anything beyond that and still have good quality on it.

I recently decided that the 55-200mm kit lens that comes with the D40/D40X is complete crap, though. If anyone is looking for one, I'm open to offers. It's not bad if you just need a zoom lens, but if you want great performance, I'd say to upgrade.

Side note, I tried to take shots of a friend's soccer game recently...and discovered that sports shooting is an ENTIRELY different ball game. Any tips forshooting a night game under those huge awful lights with no external flash?

If this is it (I can't tell if it's different or just a different part of the lens): http://cgi.ebay.com/Nikon...fLensesQQsalenotsupported

Then it's: 5279324

If you need the SKU or Manu. Part No. check here: http://www.adorama.com/NK...ikon%2050mm&item_no=1

The people at Adorama are great, so if you need to know you can just give them a call. Hope that helps!
