damn that weight room looks nice. my old high schools (notre dame) weight room was like a closet, but i think they built a new one.
and back on topic, whats a good wide angle lens for a tight budget?

depend on what camera you have - best suggestion

sigma 10-20mm

if you can afford it then look for the
tokina 11-16mm
canon 10-22mm

haha, my school's isn't anything to rave about.

i took those pics on a Tokina 11-16 f/2.8 and thats like 600 bucks. the cheapest decent one would be like a sigma 10-22 for around $420-$450

Sorry...Canon 50mm f1.8....Looking more on the ND and CP side (maybe both). Thanks for your help Rap.

^^ You should tell your homey on the back to put his shirt back on - just because he is on a weight room does not mean he is buff.

lol

i like the middle one.. i never seen lifesavers from that perspective... maybe a dif background tho

IMO Fisheye adapters suck. I know they're really cheap, but the effect isnt just the same. And sometimes some of the pictures that are taken come outreally small due to the circle outline of the adapter.

Devanisgee, it seems like you enjoy taking candid street photos but you really should respect the privacy of people out in public especially when they say 'no.' I told myself to avoid doing this when I was in Toronto due to the possibility of running into the wrong people.

Gabe, he uses a Canon EF 70-200 f/4L for most of his street shots.
Oh, I'm well aware of that. I took that into account, but since it was an old lady, I made the gamble anyways. Thanks for the heads up though. Most of the time, especially in poorer neighborhoods, I'm very well received. Dunno why

BTW, great blog ! Its on my blogroll -- sheer excellence, yo.

And most of those shots were taking with the 85mm f/1.8, yo. That kind of bokeh and performance on the 70-200f4/L would be impossible

It gets really slow and wobbly when the ideal sunlight is gone.

BTW, whoever asked about the 17-40...GO FOR IT. Don't look back. Probably one of the most robust, bang for your buck lenses out there. Ultra fast focus, great walk around capabilities, ultra wide (on ff). Oh, and the quality and reliability of Canon's L line.

i found one for $40

The effect you get is pretty much the same that is shown with the Lomo fisheye. So if you don't want to use film to have that effect, then $40 might beworth it.

On that same note, I am sure people have seen this but anyone see that homemade fisheye using a peep hole insert? I wish I knew about this just when I had apoint and shoot for fun.

Thanks for the info! I was also curious about the 14-40 f/4L as a walkaround, but I sort of felt as if the f/4 was a bit too slow, especially since itdoesn't have IS. Is my concern justified?

Right now I'm shooting with the XSI, the 18-55 IS kit lens and the 50mm f/1.8. After shooting with the 50, the sharpness and speed has absolutely blownme away. Now, I know I won't get such wide apertures with zoom lenses (without spending the big $$$$ at least
laugh.gif
), but what I'm really looking for is a reasonably priced replacement forthe kit lens. As of now, I'm sorta looking into the 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM kit that comes with the 40d/50d, but I'm worried it might not be wideenough for a walkaround. On the plus side, if offers me a really wide zoom range to play around with (important I feel, as a beginner). I'm also not surehow much of an upgrade it will give me in image quality when compared to the 18-55 kit.

So my dilemma is as such: get the 28-135 and keep the 18-55 for wide purposes OR sell the 18-55 for whatever I can get (peanuts), and get the 17-40 f/4L asa walkaround? Image quality is important to me. It was like the heavens cleared once I started shooting with the nifty fifty.(Granted, I know I could also buythe 17-55 f/2.8 EFS or 24-70 f/2.8L, but right now the cash flow just aint there
grin.gif
. ). Any advice?

BTW awesome pics everyone, I'll have some posted up soon

it should be ok...are you shooting in doors? outdoors? long exposures?

I have the 50mm f/1.8 and its a great lens even at night. If you are getting the nifty-fifty try looking for the new version of with the built in AF-S motorand will autofocus with your D60. do you have a tripod? if you dont, try investing in one. it will be really useful when you shoot at night.
