I have a feeling a lot of XSi owners will be pissed when the new Rebels come out.

And might have to check that 35mm. Might be worth the $200 investment.

I might be selling my nifty-fifty after this thing comes out.

BTW....does anyone here know how to get rid of the star looking thing on lights when taking night shots? Those are extremely
sick.gif
and cheezy IMO...I knowthere's an actual filter made just to have them but what if you dont want them in your pics?

I tried changing aperture and shutter speeds but those stupid stars keeps popping up.

^ you need to increase your aperture - but then you just get large fuzzy spots around the lights as some will probably be out of focus.

Unfortunately there's nothing else I think you can do - it's just the nature of the aperture mechanism in the lens. You could try opening your lensright up and then using a piece of card as the aperture - with a round hole punched in it - just off the top of my head it feels like that might work. Kind ofthe opposite of making a funny shape to induce shaped bokeh.

That 35mm lens looks nice - I've been thinking about a fast lens that would autofocus - candid shots with my manual 50 are tricky when it is wide open asthe depth of focus is so shallow. I like a prime lens for landscapes too so that sounds like it could work.

Couple of months until it's available though.

Full nude.....no but partially nude (no nips and beavers), should be cool considering they have the boob thread....

Ok, so I have never photograph paintings and thought it be cool so I went ahead and took a few pictures, these are from my first series when I just arrived atthe galleria ..

As you can see I was trying to frame everything and after 5-10 pictures I was like wth am I doing - this is horrible - Not that I think the rest are anybetter, but better than these I do think .. I really do believe a fisheye probably would of have help a lot of these out ..

I edited the Nips ..

I go to shows all the time and went to about 2 this weekend. Its hard to say how to capture paintings or art work. I mean you really want to justshow off the other person's work rather then capture a nice artistic looking photo. I know what you mean though cause framing an art piece within yourcamera makes it seem do dull. Actually my fisheye has done some moderate differences to make the photo look interesting but it is hard to capture at times. Imore so wanted to capture people looking at the art pieces but I had a hard time getting that without people getting weirded out by me.

Some examples:

Fong you hit it on the head .. Framing it to show the beauty of the painting makes the actual picture at times (most times) look completely boring .. but hey...

The fisheye does make it cooler to look at ..

What you think about the ones I did Mr Fong .. I have a few more that I will post when I get sometime to edit them ..

The only thing I can think of with the ones you shot are getting in on some possible angles (without getting the pieces all warped) and some detailed shotsjust to get in on more of the intricate details. The pen and ink on you could have definitely gotten a little closer to get the cross hatching on the shading. It looks fine from far away but would look even better to see every pen stroke that was made. The one with the naked chick, maybe you cols have gotten it froma lower left angle since everything is left justified. Possibly focus more on the girl but still have room for the lettering. The other ones I am not evensure...cause you never want to create odd shapes with things you should look at in front of you. If you angles Obamas face, you could make him look really odd.

Speaking of Obama, this is on the streets in Fillmore in SF:

Mr Fong

lol that picture do look funny with the distortion ... thanks for the tips ... I think the others ones came out a lot better than those and its funny because acouple of those ideas you just mentioned was exactly what I was thinking as I was editing them ... to exclude the getting closer to the pen and ink - I willkeep that in mind next time ... the place is free to go in and they get work all the time as they sell all their stuff ..

165kicks

that's straight from camera?? that !#%@ looks like a drawing and I really thought you did that with a HDR or even a plug in .. cool .. 1Ds IV?

Are you talking about this one??

What's your HDR method?
That looks like a HDR from single exposure ...

Meaning from one RAW file he did three different exposures and came up with that - Maybe even a single Jpg but that is highly doubtful!
