I just got lucky - Thanks, it was actually my first time shooting at night time, especially the skyline.
I use between 20-30 seconds to balance out my aperture. Any more suggests would greatly appreciated.

elboricua 6 - Dope pictures. Your work has gotten so much better since when you first started. You inspire me to go out and shoot more.

ronnskizzle - That is a beautiful skyline bro. I can't stop staring at it.

One of the baddest TT bikes out there right now. Maybe I'm biased since I ride a Felt. Zabriksie rode a good Prologue.

I'm jealous. I've been watching it on TV.

Those cycling shots are nice too - great panning. I like this one - gives a great sense of speed and the framing is good:

I would so have one of those Felt's too - I even like the Argyle.

^How do you take pictures like that with the person being clear and everything else being a blur along with the wheels?
I tried to do that while my friend was driving but it didnt look good at all. What settings am i suppose to be on? I have a Canon XSI btw

You want to be fast enough the freeze the rider but not so fast that everything is frozen - and then you have to pan with the subject - basically keeping themstatic in the frame so that they stay sharp.

Takes practice.

I still dont really understand. So im suppose to take a picture, and "follow" them along as they go so they stay in the shot?

Pretty much. There's usually also a mode on the camera to make it more stable as you pan it.

One of the only things I remember from my high school photog class

On the Pan wouldnt be better to put your cam in AI Servo so your subj will stay focus within the 9 points? Im going to try that out .....

Nice pictures by the way and Santi nice work with the G10 - now its the time to upgrade to a DSLR with CC going out of business .. let me know if I can helpman ..

Quick question, I have a Nikon d40 with the kit lens. i was viewing that DOF video on youtube (which was very helpful btw, props to whomever posted it) i thinkmy lens only goes down to about F/5.6, does that mean I wont be able to get that bokeh effect?

Also I was thinking about upgrading my lens to a Nikkor f/1.8 50MM. Anyone out there with a d40 currently use or have that lens?

your welcome my dude - you still be able to get bokeh but not as easy as you will with a 50 f/1.8 - All you guys need to hurry up and get ya %$$%# to CC andsee whats left .. most of all the Canon $*#* is gone but not Nikon or Sony ....

I found a picture of a cyclist I took ..

when you're zoomed in all the way at 55mm, the lowest aperture you can have is f/5.6. but if you notice, when you put it to 18mm, you can havean aperture of f/3.5. you can get the bokeh effect.. it's a bit trickier, but if you're observng objects from afar, it's alright.

alright thats makes sense. thanks. right now im shooting on Aperture Priority so when ever take it down to like f/5.6 that shutter speed is always mad long.

If i shoot on M does that allow me to adjust the aperture withoutchanging the shutter speed? it does it automatically change to allow the the necessary amount of light in?
