Officially Cutting the Cord: Cancelling Cable Vol. Hulu Plus v. NetFlix

I did this for 3 years at my old apartment and was perfectly fine...Netflix, Hulu, watch football on broadcast in the fall and stream Cowboys games they weren't playing around here (or sometimes go to a bar). Cable and the majority of TV in general is massively overrated in my view.

Of course, once me and the lady moved together we got DirectTV...can't have her missing Bad Girls Club.

I mentioned this last week, but I know a professor who said he stopped watching TV back in 2000.

He said he took all the TV's out of his house, and never looked back.

I'm not being an *** when I say this, but I know a professor who went out and bought a TV right after 9/11. He didn't know what was going on and obviously having a TV was/is essential in some situations.

He's never looked back and said it was the greatest purchase he's made to date.

Kanye shrug.

"Cut the cord" in May and haven't looked back. I need a better internet connection but so far I can't see me going back to to paying 100 a month. Cable is really an unneeded luxury in most instances. Between my ipad and Macbook, Netflix apps, and friends and family HBOgo, MAXgo, and Showtime Anytime Apps, I have never had a problem finding suitable TV alternatives.

I would not mind paying HBO for direct access to HBOgo aka HBO a la cart but they don't seem to offer that at this tiem time so I willkeep using other peoples accounts till the wheels fall off.

I'm thinking of getting rid of cable also and setting up the media center on my computer along with other apps i.e. hulu.

I would need a better internet connection if I wanted to get into this hulu/netflix business

I am debating on cutting cable as well but I do enjoy time to time just watching tv. I have both netflix and hulu and usually on weekends all I do is use my roku. The joys of having 50mbs internet

I cut the cord back in March of this year and don't regret it. I kept it as long as I did for the kids show's for my daughter but it began to become too much for a bunch of channels I don't even watch. Now I pay $75/mo. for internet alone and it sucks but it's better than paying $150+tax/mo.

I got Netflix and considered Hulu Plus but no real reason for it. All the shows I watch on basic cable, I can watch, others, I wait until their available via torrent then I download em. Don't have to worry about commercials which makes it better.

I'm going to invest in a Roku when I feel it's necessary because right now my laptop w/ HDMI is all I need to get by.

I wish premium channel providers like HBO would separate themselves from cable or offer a plan w/o having cable. I wouldn't mind paying it if it were reasonably priced.

I've been thinking about cutting my cable as well. I generally watch about 15 hours/ week of TV. but 80% is either Sports or DVDs . Usually fall asleep with Netflix running. Thinking about cancelling after the College Football Season.

my only gripe is I don't know how to watch local sports games cuz i'm in the market

league pass n all the other online services only work for teams outside the market/ where u live

I havnt had cable for 5 years, I watch all my sports online, quality isnt the greatest but i make due, I have netflix, mainly because all the new shows that i might watch i watch online aswell, So dont really need hulu plus.
