Nipsey Hussle Thread; The Marathon Continues

this tape is fire. :pimp:

Why dont yall think its better then Crenshaw?

Crenshaw was more motivational, had more variety, and felt more cohesive. Half of the tracks on Mailbox Money had been released throughout the year so they were just thrown on here. Some of the song transitions don't make sense on Mailbox Money either. I like it, but crenshaw is better.

IMO its gonna be hard for dude to top Crenshaw. Its like a modern version of Cube's Death certificate.

I mean, we're all entitled to our opinions but...

I haven't decided if I'm even going to check out this new tape yet. The first Nipsey song I heard was Crenshaw & Slauson (True Story) and I was blown away. So I downloaded the Crenshaw tape and...

Little did I know that Nipsey uses the same "flow" on pretty much every single song . The spoken-word, pause-after-every-line style worked extremely well on Crenshaw & Slauson because the song didn't really have a beat per se, but that seems to be his general "style" which I find to be lazy to the point of irritation. His content mostly seems to consist of bland and overused gangsta rap cliches. It just seems like he doesn't try at all for the most part. I think he could be a great MC if he actually personalized his material more and made an effort with his flow, lyrics, and concepts (see "Face The World").

Does he have more material on this new tape or elsewhere that he actually makes an attempt at what might be considered a "flow" and goes beyond cookie-cutter gangsta content? I've only listened to the Crenshaw tape...

just get the damn thing and try it for yourself, it's free damnit

I think he's showed his versatility throughout all his tapes at this point. The TMC series were my favorite, but even though this tape is different and may sound repetitive its still better than 95% of crap out there right now.

Yeah he's fallen off at this point or is just coasting either way he's dropped better. Check out his initial "Bullets aint got no names" series and the follow-up "Marathon" series. You can get them off these links. I posted multis in-case any are giving you trouble.

True

I was more so inquiring about his catalog more generally. I just don't have the time or patience to go through it but was wondering if there's anything worthwhile in there in terms of what I said I was looking for...

My man.

@Smangalang is 100% right...Nipsey my favorite artist since Nas but he gotta get back on his TMC flow. That stop and start flow is lazy and primarily freestyle punch in with the engineer. I just peeped after I played TMC.

You can tell he still got it but hes just lazy currently or something. Maybe Victory Lap will change all that

Same exact reason why I came into this thread. I feel like I ned a studio album from Nip to see what all the hype is about.

Just asking what's the difference between his "mixtapes" and what would be an "album". I mean Crenshaw was beyond amazing so if you haven't checked him out yet you need to wake up.

Count up that loot is piff :pimp:

I wanna hear nip on some og west coast beats. Warren g, damizza, fred wreck, battlecat..etc..

An album would prove to us that he can make a exceptional studio/in store release and cement him with the other West Coast up & coming talent and future.

As a matter of fact, shouldn't Nipsey be categorized as a veteran in the game now?

Everything you said he's done already

Dude been making albums since 11'... It's a lot of trash in best buy and target that I wouldn't buy so why would I need a retailer to validate what's good music?
