Arrested Development Thread - Season 5 OUT TODAY ON NETFLIX

I thought it was odd when I heard it, but it didn't click until they kept mentioning it :lol:
 
am i the only one that thinks they changed michael's character?

not saying the season wasnt hilarious (which it was).. but some of the things michael did, just didnt seem like things he would do
 
My brother mentioned how different he seemed, but he was always naive and kind of oblivious with certain things.

Seasons 1-3 he only heard what he wanted to hear when talking to George Michael. When he was trying to talk about his feelings for Maeby, Michael completely ignored it. Or when George Michael didn't want to do the father son bike rides, Michael kept insisting and wouldn't give his son some space. So he's always been very pushy and controlling with his son.

Or how naive he was and didn't notice he was dating a mentally challenged woman :lol: The same way he wasn't getting the picture with Ron Howard that Michael's role wasn't that important, they just needed the rights.

I think the format of this season meant Michael wasn't the single force trying to hold the family together and that his more negative character traits were a lot more obvious this season than before. So I think it's just the format and style plus the change in the story that Michael has in a way given up keeping the family together and trying to be the "good one"

The Tobias episode was great. Gob and Tony Wonder was one of my favorites from this series. I was laughing so hard.

I'm at 11 or 12 now. I think Maeby is up next.

Still, found a few episodes to be disappointing.
 
The best eps were the George Michael and Buster one :rofl:

That hand :lol: Smashing Ophelia :lol: The Norman Bates likeness :rofl: Both son and father :x :lol: I'm pretty sure she's gonna get pregnant and they won't know who the father is :rofl: The reveal of Fakeblock caught me off guard. The Mongolians (I wanted to point out from the jump lead dude looked more Asian than Mexican) :lol: Being a "twinist" when you're grandfather is a twin :lol:

Then the Maeby and G.O.B. eps :lol:

Mad gay, especially since they went through with it and no forget me now pill. Multiple eps I was wondering who is that person GOB is trying to hide :x I thought it was the christian girl. The whole Maeby ep connected a lot. I felt this format really got to dig deep in to the individual characters as opposed to them being more of a supporting cast in past seasons. Liked the Lucille ep for that too.The whole high school thing was ridiculous. Smashing minors.

Really strong stuff this season. Can't wait til the next one.

The running joke for tipping was funny as well, them all being black too :lol:

I just started watching the 1st season yesterday, I am super addicted. I tried watching the show before, & was confused. Watchin it from the beigining makes me understand the shoe more
 
In reference to Cinco de Quatro, the first episode of this season is also episode 54 of the series.

That was a classic episode. On par with anything from the first 2 seasons
 
I'm pleasently surprised how great this season was after so many years away.

The first episode was really slow but it really picked up from the 2nd on. Tobias and GOB with the LOLZ but what had me in absolute stitches was Gene Parmesan's return :rofl:

I had completely forgot about that dude and I must've laughed for like 5 minutes straight hahahaha. This show is gold.



Also GOB's breakdown with (Anne?) LOL.

"The man with the...with the...the man with the $3500 suit, The girl with the....the girl...the man with the...." LMAO I usually don't like that type of stuff but I could not stop laughing.

Didn't like the face-blindness gag, tho.

I paused it cuz I was laughing. Mainly Lucille's reaction to him. Son came out of nowhere, then they talk it through that she knew he'd be around and she thought he was the black guy :lol:

The other thing that had me with Anne was the who "Me, Anne" "Yeah, me AND ....." They deadass don't know her name and every time they replayed the scene of Michael saying he's done with the family you can see piece of Anne's head cuz she's sitting on the floor :lol:

That joke was eerily on point given Brad Pitt just came out and said he had that. That's what kinda got me about some of the jokes this season. It was crazy how each ep referenced or had a similarity to current events. It was like it was South Park in that they can stay very current on a monthly basis.
 
Everyone should start referring to episode by number as opposed to character since some characters have two, just makes it easier.
