OFFICIAL LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS 2013 OFFSEASON THREAD - Media Day Done; Training Camp Starting

Surprised nobody posted this,

Clips sign Mullens

Terms were not disclosed, but league sources said the deal was for two years and is worth $2 million. Mullens will hold a player option for the second year of the deal, the source said. Mullens had a career year for the Charlotte Bobcats last season, starting 41 games and averaging 10.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 26.9 minutes per game.

Perhaps more importantly for the Clippers is Mullens' ability to shoot from outside, as he averaged a career-high 31.7 percent from behind the three-point line last season. The seven-footer has played both power forward and center for the Oklahoma City Thunder and Bobcats during his four seasons in the NBA and gives the Clippers a possible stretch four off the bench, which they've been looking for recently.

Mullens, 24, was an early target for Clippers coach Doc Rivers this offseason after Rivers watched Mullens put up 25 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists against his Boston Celtics in February. In that game, Mullens hit 62.5 percent of his shots (10 of 16) and was 80 percent from behind the arc (4 of 5).
Welp, no LO. This sucks :smh:

DC gonna eat off that Clipper bench :pimp: ATCB 2.0 :nerd:

Hopefully any improvements (i.e. on defense/in the post/FT %) DJ makes this summer will carry over to the regular/post seasons. If not then I'm sure Hollins or Mullens will be more than happy to steal some of his late-4th qtr PT.

He won't make the same kind of highlight reel plays that Bled did, but I bet DC at least equals Bledsoe's production in terms of numbers. Plus, he won't make the same number of boneheaded plays that Bledsoe did. I think he was a great pick-up.

First ever Varsity game was against DC. Had never guarded anyone that fast in my life.

We lost by 20 lol.

No shame in that, bro. My team got blown out by a few times by teams featuring future NBAers. I think Paul Pierce's Inglewood team got us by 25. Lost to John Muir Pasadena with Jaque Vaughn. We beat Crossroads with Baron Davis, but he was only a freshman and like 5'8" at the time. LOL.

I want to have faith in DC, and give him the benefit of the doubt that Dallas was just a hard roster to play with with Dirk hurt... but how did Mike James take his starting job? James is a legit bum off the street. Granted DC did still play a steady amount of minutes.

Hope DC can utilize this deep team

Yeah we played Etiwanda my soph yr when they were #1 in the nation.

We started 4 sophs. who ended up going d1, but I still think he's the fastest player I have guarded ever. Which is funny cuz I'm an up and down type pg myself. His cousin refs my men's league games, funny dude. Been telling, "Watch my son come back, watch him come back..."

Happy for him and his family.

They had him, Vaughn and Pendergraph...and a big center, don't remember who that was.

And a scrub named Latham who was my college roommate  nah he was good too

How can we get LO with Mullens signed? We have the room or even the money? Our roster is maxed out.

I'm not a salary cap expert, but I read somewhere that if we sign someone else for the minimum salary, it doesn't count against the cap or something like that. And the fact is, we can't only have one PF on the roster - it would be crazy. So, whatever the rules are, we need to find a way to add someone at that position.

Just saw that on TV. Funny !@#$. Relatedly, was the court they're playing on in that commercial in White Men Can't Jump? It looks familiar.

Looks similar but I'm sure several courts across America look that way now

funny *** commercial and the old school tunes make it even more epic. :pimp:
