Friend ended up scoring another pair of USO2s at a nyc outlet this morning for $82! Guess a few pairs were returned and ended up there, lucky mfer lol i need to double on FOs before their long gone.

So I listed my best GS quality wise yesterday so today list my best GS overall and why, for a bit of weekend reading. Interested to hear all your faves as this is just my take on it:

5. USO 2 - I actually like the CW and blocking a lot but that PVC or whatever it is, just throws it a bit for me. Too shiny and squeaks like my dog chewing his toy when I walk. Also not sure the USA on the back is necessary, makes it feel more like an Olympics themed shoe. However still a good kick saved by the strong CW.

4. Aus - as much discussed recently one of the best in quality for me and very comfy. I like the CW although not something I would normally pick and the blocking is fine. It's the embroided stats that I don't like. The games won stat is largely irrelevant and being so bold on the heel it compromises the clean lines of the shoe for me a little. Overall good.

3. FO - of all the shoes in the pack, for me nothing captures the legacy of the man and his impact on popular culture and tennis as well as this did. The materials are pretty good too. Nike could have easily gone for an orange and green RG tribute but they rightly knew that the FO hot lava outfit of 1990 was when tennis changed and a new style ushered in (or certainly when it became internationally recognised) and having already got the hot lava out there they managed to switch it up but still capture the spirit of that moment perfectly. For wearability sake I would prefer it if the denim inner side had been replicated on the outside as well but as a collectors piece I think this is number 1

2. W2 - almost my favourite it was very close. Love the colour blocking, the simple clean design, no branding or unnecessary stats or country logo here. The design and CW is allowed to speak for itself. It also captures the tournament perfectly and marries the two very different cultures of Wimbledon and street wear well. Materials are not the best of the pack but still very good. Not sold on the pin especially as I associate that logo more with Sampras than Agassi but it's a nice touch and of course now with its recent reemergence we know why they did it and it's removable so all good. Primarily this is my favourite as I can wear it with almost everything to almost everywhere.

1. W1 - it was very close between the 1 and 2 but it's my favourite just for a number of reasons. Most importantly due to wearability. Whilst the W2s I can wear with almost everything the first ones I can wear with everything everywhere as there so clean. Last summer I wore them so much there now beaters. What I love about these is they remind me a lot of classic tennis shoe from 70s to late 80s with that green outsole and all white upper. Stan smiths, rod lavers, edberg 86 all feel they have input here. It's like, had Agassi played Wimbledon in 89 or 90 and had the ATC2 on foot this is what it would of looked like. Materials are superb, love that terry towelling lining and soft leather. I also love how easy they were to get. I got an email from pro direct as I had bought a racket from there before and these were included in some pack they were doing that also included a tennis classic and some woman's kick I forget the model. Clicked through and easy. They sat there for about 4 days like that. Before the madness before the hype they have a simplistic purity to them that appeals to my love of clean kicks and the simple pre hype days. Great shoe.

NB I don't have US1 and only occasionally moan about that!

PS Hot Lava greater than all the above

Sorry for rambling

Just got my 2nd pair of Pixels from Probusnyc, 106.00 shipped... Next the quats are on deck for a re-up and holding out for the PGs, and its straight killing me

WOO-HOO!! Finally got my Wimbledon 2's for a price I was happy with. Mission accomplished! No real need to share that, just excited haha.

Peace,
J

For some reason I thought that Tech tuff material would make the shoes much stiffer, but they're actually much more comfortable than the synthetic ATC IIs.

I was thinking the same about an all denim FO

Had to pull trigger on the Orange Bursts on END..$76 shipped I think with the 25% off. And happy I got my size cause when I first got a pair I accidentally bought wrong size. Really I just wanted to add another one of the END shipping boxes to the collection lol.
