🎾 OFFICIAL AGASSI RETRO THREAD - ATC II 2024 Hot Lava “aged” retro 🎾

Yeah, it's not that bad

I wonder if they still have the original mold for the sole

I would guess they don't have the original mold otherwise they would have used it. It appears to me they are just lazy and content with "pleasing" the majority uniformed "masses" vs. the total retro OG "purists". It doesn't look correct with the atc3 sole and toe in place, but thats just me- I vividly remember wearing and loving my OG teals. Will I cop- possibly- is it a must have- no- there is no doubt its a 75-80% effort when 90-100 would be preferred. That being said, there is no way these were going to move in large numbers even with old tooling- they just aren't that revered or well known. ATC3, my hope would be yes- do it right- not half arsed- and maybe we are onto something. This is JV at best. I am awaiting the Varsity effort.

Not close enough. Gotta do better than that to get me to come out of pocket for a new retro release nowadays.

Maayybbeee if OG CW hit dirt cheap prices.
They don't look bad if you consider it a different shoe.  That being said, I'm glad I don't have any sentimental attachment to this model cause they really butchered these.  Between these and the Air Up retros I don't like where NSW is headed.

And there lies my problem... my sentimental-attachment to the Challenge Court/Agassi line (if it wasn't obvious before

).  The thing is, a lot of sneakerheads will see these as a good retro.  Look at a few of the sneaker blogs... I haven't seen one that has mentioned the inaccuracies of these.  As far as they're concerned, it's a "proper retro".  I wish they'd do a bit of homework and make it known to the masses that this retro just isn't good enough.

I guess the bright side is that ATC IV's used a similar outsole, hopefully they'll retro those AND get them right.

I don't even feel the desire to get these retros and thrash them around a tennis court.

will definitely cop if they hit the otlets. I copped the ATC IIIs when they were $40 at the outlets. The sonic yellow was not justified nor the $40 price tag. The ATC IIs however.... :pimp: one of the few retroes justified by the anvil of judge judy

Makes me a tad angry. The Tech Challenge line is my all time favorite and with little to no love the least they could have done with these is get the midsole correct. Putting a Tech III on these is an obvious cheap out. Seems like this line stays getting the half *** treatment starting with the Tech Challenge III retro and ending with the Tech IV hybrid and now these. Thankfully the Tech II wasn't butchered otherwise all hope would have been lost, come on Nike you can do better than this.

The mystery to me is WHY? why do we see these hybrids and halfasd attempts when it comes to the Agassis? what is there to gain from a marketing/business perspective?
The only ones thats goin hard for these are the genuin heads out there , at least the ones thats still left... I really hope, once and for all, we'll see a true to form retro line I-IV .cause these are my last hope from this brand since the design and materials are goin in a complete new direction , a direction which is far from what i once fell in love with many yrs ago.

It would tell me that it is so ridiculously cheap and easy relatively speaking to take shortcuts, that it doesn't even matter if the shoe does reasonably well. Long story short, if people will buy them for 110/20/30, and it only costs 15 bucks to make em, we can live with them making their way to outlets and people being excited to grab em for 55/60. If we took what it takes to make them "OG Head worthy" it would add 15-20 bucks to cost and they would still likely end up in outlets because even Wally Hopp wouldn't buy us out of a "perfectly done" retro. I am not saying I agree with the thinking, but its likely it just isn't worth the effort to do it "properly" as some of us would like to see it done. Most people wouldn't begin to appreciate OG fabrics/color pallets and toe box design. Just my .02, I could be way wrong, but only thing I can think of with regards to these ridiculous mashups and "hybrids". Almost reminds me of guys who make custom Harleys with everything from car parts, to boat parts, and tractor seats. How outrageous can we get and still get people to buy into the cool hybrid thing.

Shortcuts are barely taken on other obscure models. Yet the AGASSI line has been dragged through an alley filled with vile pieces of garbage for a couple years now... Not cool.

I realize they can get away with it here. I'm not sure on a marino turf retro they can use some deion sanders retro outsole. Likewise with the pillars, deions, raider turfs, air veers, and a number of other retros that had all new molds created and complete.. More obscure less appealing models than the ones they actually choose to skimp on... My mind is blown.. Didn't Nike just re sign Andre too? They go through all these hoops, and the shoes turn out this way?

Looking at a side by side. The midsole midfoot piece that is black is the center piece of the shoe. On these latest retros, the whole flow of the shoe is off... To top it off, the heel piece is speckled right near the agassi lined print, which is 100% conflicting.

The picking and choosing of what to do right irks me the most with Nike.

lighting is terrible not allowing for whatever the true color scheme is to show through. I will hope it is simple and less metallic than the pictures make it look. How much are the wimbledon pair fetching online if any are available? i loved the simplicity of it, but wasn't gonna jump through hoops to get it.

Wimbledon's are almost impossible to find in larger sizes and people asking stupid prices like $350 for them.

I'm sure better pics will come out by release date so I won't say how I feel about them now. I got the wimbledon's so it will be nice to have the matching US Opens. I can tell by the pic it is about as high quality as the wimbledons based of the leather Nike tag alone. That is a HUGE plus for me.

:x When I checked before leaving london they were not going for much higher than retail (which was $165-170 at the then current exchange rate). If I knew they would be this much I would've copped more pairs. Trust me. Those SAT in London. When I went to pick up Bad Lt pair (5 days after release) I asked what sizes they still had left and dude told me a FSR.

EDIT:
Based on the color of the Nike check and pattern on the bottom looks like 3M is coming back too

Black/purps are cool but way more partial to the Wimbledons. I'm assuming the quality and materials are the same on both. But wouldn't want to pay much more than retail on these.
