Either way, I had the OG's my senior year in high school (yes, I'm old) and beat the hell out of them.  Made the mistake of passing on the '08 retros when I could have gotten them for $69.99, but after over 20 years, I finally got another pair and I'm very happy with them.

I'm just really particular about the shoes I wear. I've seen a few stores that sold out then have a few sizes left a week or two later. Maybe because the resell wasn't great on them.

But now that I've seen the 2014 Hot Lava in day light, it's not as bad as I first thought. The 2014 Hot Lava color is still nowhere close to the 2008 version though. I don't know which color is suppose to be closer to the OG, but I prefer the 2008 color more than the 2014's. I'm still debating if I should sell the 2014 or not. Anyways, here are the pics:

The color difference between 2014 and 2008 is subtle in the pics because I took them with my iPhone 5, but the Hot Lava is significantly different if you see them in person. Also, the splatter on the 2014 model seems to be shiny for some reason. If I had to describe the color for 2008 it'd be "Poppin' Rave Pink" vs 2014's "Rotten Tomatoes."

 Is it me or does the '14 pair seem to be shorter than the '08 pair ( look at the 2nd pic)

...just one thing i've noticed...nike has been able to maintain the clear air unit (albeit eco smaller version)
i mean, a lot of air jordan retros have deliberately yellowish air unit now & these still have da clear
 
All 3 huarache CWs have been out in UK for at least a month now and all are sitting in FSRs so if that evidence is anything to go by they are a guaranteed sale shoe (here anyway). I have my eye on the grey and blues as we'll but I'm not paying more than £50 for them.

It's just preference really. I like the 2008 better but I can see how others might like the 2014 version.

I have a pet peeve with people that always says older pair has better quality, so I'll try to be as non-biased as possible. Honestly, both pairs feel the same to me. The only difference I noticed was the color as I mentioned before and the splatter on the 2008 pair seems printed on the leather. The splatter on the 2014 pair feels like it's been painted on the leather so you can feel the ridges around it and I think that's why it has that shiny gloss.
