Official "Going to Vegas in..." Vol. II "It was time"

gonna need a hook up for a day/pool party for friday aug 29th... i never really asked about pool party or clubs because im really not about that life... but my friend really wants to go for his bachelor party... he said something about wet republic? i dont know... we have a group of 8 guys

it's not even about them not being able to afford it (cause they were down to spend a decent amount until 3 hours ago). It's just penny pinching mentality... Talking about cramming 10 heads into a room in the Venetian so it'll be cheaper

Going with cheapskates is the worst. Everybody wants to party, but nobody wants to actually pay for it. Even those who could afford a good time. Also, good luck convincing them that their lame time share mad far away from the strip will add up in the cab rides back and forth. Yeah, I know there are often shuttles between these places, but they're inconvenient, and your group WILL BE taking cabs from time to time. That $30 (or worse) each trip could have gone towards a hotel on the Strip.

My most recent trip, my buddy claimed he was going cheap on me. Kinda turned out not to be the case (his definition of "cheap" apparently differs from the rest of my friends), and we had a blast the whole time. Not saying we balled out, but our willingness to spend landed us in some good situations. There's a difference between "I can't afford this" and "I will do what it takes to ensure a good time". When I budget for Vegas, I have an initial budget, and then tell myself that I need to be prepared to go over "X" amount of dollars beyond that. I didn't even have to do that this trip. Everything worked out.

Definitely not.

Tier 1: XS/Hak/Light (in some order)...and Marquee 4th behind those (but still definitely Tier 1)

It's interesting to hear about how far Marquee has fallen off. I was hanging with some locals (industry people and regular club goers), and they said they couldn't even remember the last time they went there. Back in the day, I know they were there every week.
 
How is Reno? :lol: NEVER heard it mentioned before but I live in NC so folks are always hitting Las Vegas if they're out that way
 
Reno is depressing as hell. I've only ever been there a couple times, and I was younger. It's basically a mini Vegas in northern Nevada, minus the money and fun stuff. Might as well just go to Tahoe and stay on the Nevada side (it's about an hour away).

When it first opened Marquee was temporarily my favorite club there - something new, multilevel setup, hip hop room.

Now I haven't been since Jan '13 which spans 5 trips. There'll be 2 more at least this summer where I don't go.

XS is back on top for me. Hak is wild too but I like XS's setup a lot more.

And :lol: at the guy putting Light in the same tier as Lax
 
Starting to get that itch now :lol: .. Going Mon-Fri, just need the homie ECook comes thru with the plugs. Haven't been too 1Oak/Lavo/Tryst yet so I like what im hearing about the Tier 2s :smokin .. went to Haze, Eclipse, and Light last summer had a blast!!

Reno is alright. I usually go for the night and just hit the tables with the homies. It used to be cracking years ago, but it gets deader every year. There are some themed pub crawl events (super hero, Halloween) and those are pretty dope.
 
Reno is dead. I went there recently for the day and the main strip was damn near absent of people. Age group in the casinos was 60+. Nothing like it used to be 10 years ago. Indian casinos in CA took all the business. I think the only big weekend they have left up there is Hot August Nights (car show).

Agree with this completely. Haven't been to Marquee since Nov. 2012.

XS wasn't on top for me since 2012, but its recently been on my #1 followed by Hak. If only Hak was bigger and/or had an outdoor area.

Bruh, I was :rofl: when dude said Light is Tier 2.

I feel bad for Drais tho, so much potential just can't get it together.

Drai's is a gorgeous club. The folks I was with said it ranks at the top for them as a venue, but the DJ roster just doesn't attract the crowds that other clubs do.

Yeah I think they did a nice job design wise, but lack of big name DJs is a big issue. Too bad all the DJs are under contract with XS or Hak

I know Victor Drai has always been against big headlining DJs. It was one reason why he had the falling out with Steve Wynn.

The other problem with Drai's is that it's in a small boutique hotel, and doesn't have a natural on-property crowd to draw from. This doesn't bode well for SLS when they open with their new club.
 
My bachelor party going down first weekend of September (5-7) might go a day earlier to get down on some craps without the non-gamblers in the group, cant wait!! I'm planning most the trip, don't mind since best man (younger bro) is only 22 and I've been to Vegas more times than the whole group combined lol. Will be booking at Venetian soon, anyone have connects there??

This will also be my first time doing BS, thinking bottles at 1oak Friday, and for Saturday either EBC or Tao dayclub since we'll be staying at Venetian, not sure whether I should do BS again the second day at dayclub or at night, well see!!

Not sure if serious, lol.. can bottles ever suck? I know you got some connects out there, hit the inbox or I'll shoot you a message with what we plan on. We wouldn't put you in a bad spot with hosts at all, I know tipping/handshakes go a long way.

He's not serious. But a bad location (translation: being cheap) can make bottle service pretty lame.

Makes sense, thanks.. Would you say we should go all out on BS one night? Say prime location as close to dance floor as possible at 1oak and just hold off on trying to budget for a second day of BS or minimum at a dayclub or bottles again a second night?
