Samsung passes Apple in U.S. smartphone market - report

iPhone is the new Sidekick.......
Whoah. Slow it down young man

When making statements like these, maybe we should ask:
How many sidekicks were sold total and what is the installed based of apps? Did it have cloud infrastructure to support data storage and marketplace? What is the switching cost?

I dont think you got what I meant......

Everybody and their mama had sidekicks during its time.

Im not trying to comapare the 2.

The S3/S4 is a much better phone than the iPhone, anyway. Open software (Android) will always be better than closed (iOS).

It doesnt have to be the size of the galaxy note II but the iphone 4/5 is so damn small. People use their phones to watch videos, look at the internet, play games etc. I seen a dude with big hands use an iphone and im like that **** is so small in his hands

Id def peep an S4 but my company pays for my phone so I'm cool sticking with the iPhone 5

Had the Nexus and had the S3, now I'm back to iPhone

There are people out there who don't care about customizing your phone and all the small extra features and just want the phone for basic phone things (Calls, texts, web, apps)

I spent more time on my phone with Android than I did with iPhone cause there's so much extra crap to do

S4 is better spec-wise than the iPhone, however to me it's not a better phone

I'm trying to spend the least amount of time on my phone and have a simple user experience so iPhone is for me

The Note II is by far the best phone ever created. I can see how the S4 would be likely crafted in the same vein. The iPhone is functional art, but is not a ground-breaking device any longer. There are phones that can closely replicate what you can accomplish on a much large device, and the iPhone isnt one of them. Apple will have to re-innovate to stay relevant and without Jobs, who knows if that is possible anymore.

Every carrier but At&t. Thats cause they are the only ones still allowing users to to grandfather their unlimited contracts. If they decide to stop, iPhone sales will plument.

There both great phones but that s4 is going to freeze and lag after a while as for apple the os is so smooth and reliable u can have an iPhone for years and still work with no problems that why there resale value will always cost more then any smart phone

Had an iphone 4, switched to Galaxy s4.

I feel better and better about my decision every day.

Apple's innovation is non-existant. The iphone 5 is the phone that should have came out 2 years ago... and today we should be enjoying an even better product, but we're not.

I like feeling elite.. thats why i DIDNT get the iphone. I got a Nexus 4. and it was wayyy cheaper off contract and does a million things the iphone can't.

-TI-83 through 89 calculators

-Gameboy advanced emulator

-Battery saving app that makes my battery super juiced by turning off features im not using

-ultra-customizable interface

-not having to get my music through itunes
-more free apps

-chrome browser is super fast and doesn't leave me stuck w/ mobile versions of sites

-bigger screen

-and a billion other tech nerd things.

If i was old and just wanted a phone to call, text, and take pictures... id go with iphone

its the best cell phone but i actually want the best smart phone

My biggest issue with the nexus 4 was it doesn't come with 4g LTE. That's a deal breaker because having a smartphone without 4g in a year or two is not going to cut it.

i'm currently pulling in 13 mbps w/ tmobile on my n4...

i think with att and verizon, its pretty fast now... but when EVERYONE starts hopping on, its going to definitely slow down.

last year i was running speed tests on my htc one and getting 22 mbps EASY...

now, its around 13-14

in Dallas btw.

quick question i wanted to ask...

is it more expensive to assemble in iphone as to an s4, seeing as how they cost the same now?

the plastic housing has to be somewhat cheaper than the glass i would think... but in turn, are the displays on s4's cost more than that of the iphone5?

i guess i'm just wondering what is the profit margins on each phone, and how will that effect future sales?

I just feel like Apple is going backwards. You have Samsung who continuously make their screen bigger, Apple continuously make their phones smaller.

how is making a screen bigger a step forward? smh

Only company that has truly innovated so far this year is maybe HTC with the Ultrapixle. Heck Apple innovated with the In-Cell display that allows phones to be much thinner but I guess since half these fanboys know nothing about technology they dont care.

LTE is meant to run at about 5-12 mb once its "maxed" out. People getting 20-40+ mb are on less congested networks. Once VZW flips the switch on LTE Advance at the end of this year, that 5-12 is gonna go up.

What's so hard to understand? Stationary or mobile, I will always prefer a bigger screen over smaller. It's easier to see everything I'm doing on a bigger screen.

So a survey that is conducted not long after the release of the new Samsung phone is supposed to accurately illustrate the buying trends of the smart phone industry?

The iPhone 5's been out since September 2012. Is anyone really expecting it to sell out its competitor which was released less than a full month ago?

Comical.

regardless of when any such stats have been taken, this is the first time its happened.

But did you factor in portability? That actually counts for some.

Word son really just did the worst comparison in life. Even side by side I don't spend hours on my phone watching flicks I have a tablet, TV and laptop for that. My smartphone is and will always be fore quick access to data. Lol a 5 inch screen isn't even sufficient to watch a 2 hr movie on
