Official Schoolboy Q Oxymoron Thread, Releasing February 25th 2014

I'm good is the best one of the best songs q has made to now and one of the chiller songs I've ever listened to

Fixed

Kind of agree.

:nthat:

The hook. :pimp: Glad he brought BJ the Chicago kid back for Oxymoron. It's no surprise Studio is on par with I'm Good. They work well together.

Wale come thru for the first show?

You could tell Q was exhausted/medicated as **** tho lol, Think you got the better perfomance.

Nah, there was no mention of Wale at the 8pm fillmore show... Would have been nice if he would of done a song or something.... Only thing i wasnt feeling was schoolboy performing kendricks m.A.A.d. city... song is dope, but his own songs should be enough to keep the crowd going...

He performs a Kendrick song at his shows to show love for him and the crew. Before Kendrick dropped GKMC, Q would perform ADHD from Section 80. Q's a down to earth dude so I dont think he uses a Kendrick song to "keep the crowd going". He's just showing love to the homie.

Setbacks is a really good album. You can tell he has gotten better but still has a bunch of jams.

Lost my **** when he did this at the Best Buy show...

Man this cd is strange...it's just not good at all IMO. Beats aren't good, choruses aren't good... I'm pretty disappointed cuz I mess with Q

There's about 3-5 songs I would keep. And those songs are really good but the rest are just meh

Most of them are fire imo

Idk I'm not feeling them, they aren't as good as the ASAP mixtape from a while back's beats or even rockys cd to me

this dude regretting signing to Interscope now

ScHoolboy Q: "I Love Interscope, But I Wish I Could Have Just Stayed With TDE"

by Soren Baker

ScHoolboy Q also says he may do a line of bucket hats.

Known for wearing bucket hats, ScHoolboy Q says that he’s been approached about doing a line of the accessory.

“Everybody wants me to do a line,” ScHoolboy Q says during an interview with hot937.cbslocal.com. “There’s so many bucket hat companies offering me so much money, but I’d rather do it myself. If you wanted to give me that much money, I know I could make that much money on my own.”

The TDE rapper then says he has another reason for not doing a line of bucket hats.

“I already did wrong by signing a rap contract,” ScHoolboy Q says. “I’m not talking about TDE, but how we ventured off with the majors. I wish we would have still stayed indie. I don’t care about being on like 100 radios or **** like that. I love Interscope, but I wish I could have just stayed with TDE.”

ScHoolboy Q’s TDE/Interscope records debut album, Oxymoron, was the #1 album in the country last week, selling 138,950 copies. The Los Angeles rapper says that neither he nor his labelmates is working on a mixtape, though.

“We don’t do mixtapes,” he says. "We don’t put mixtapes out. Everything we drop is an album– we don’t play that mixtape game. We put all our time and effort into one project, to make it great instead of just doing songs for a tape. That means you’re not focused on your album.”

all of these new rap acts are slaves in the industry, he's already compromised his music by making mainstream sounding tracks especially on his Oxymoron album.

I highly doubt Kendrick and Q have 360 deals. I bet they have more of a distribution deal.

I agree about Kendrick but q not so much which is why soul and rock are probably still independent. Side note, anyone know the 2nd week numbers?

He did 30k

From him talking about merchandising, it sounds like he's in a 360 deal because he wouldn't have brought up Interscope making money off an outside venture like his bucket hat line. I just don't understand why you'd make that deal when Kendrick set everybody up to be able to do **** independent. Q says he had to sacrifice on his album but the only songs I see that's an attempt at radio is Hell Of A Night and Man Of The Year which still sound like typical Q records. It's not like he's had any expensive features/videos or crazy marketing so I don't really see what the point of going to Interscope was, TDE could have definitely done Oxymoron in house.

I understand Kendrick doing Interscope because he obviously wants to be a major label artist and has the crossover appeal. While Q has the appeal, he seems like he doesn't wanna play the game.

How people hate on that song baffles me.

That **** is flames. :nthat:

Wish they would've had the instrumental instead of rapping over the CD. :x

Low album sales imo is what made dudes start focusing on mixtapes to get their reps up and make that show money. Mixtapes can sometimes be better than albums because of no sample clearance, well not as many sample clearance issues.

Look at a dude like Wiz whose Kush and OJ had most of us thinking that he had next and then his albums. :x

I wouldn't say mixtapes are solely to blame, the age of piracy made everybody have to adjust.

Yeah but at the same time it's kind of a catch 22 cause the mixtape being better than the album is also a reason why the album sales are low. In this era of piracy where people can choose wether or not they want to spend money on music, ain't nobody trying to buy subpar albums.

Truth is, the internet, mp3, Steve Jobs, and clear channel radio has destroyed the music industry. But that's a topic for another thread (which I'm thinking of making).
