R.I.P Trayvon

are y'all at work watching this?

home and off work?

home and unemployed? lol...

just curious..... im at work watching it in the corner of my monitor trying to multi-task...

Do you feel like a man at the end of the day?

I'd seriously have an issue sleeping at night. Maybe I'm too old-school.
I'd say raising a child well is the most manly thing one can do in life.

I'm watching at work - got two monitors so one's on the trial. The others on whatever work I'm doing. Posting to Nt from my phone tho.

Its nice to see that the debate has gotten more civilized as it haswent along rather the opposite way around

defense doesnt have to "prove" squat.

onus is always on the prosecution. thats the fundamental basis of "innocent until PROVEN guilty"

the jury has been hearing all case long that it was self-defense and that's what this entire case revolves around....

so put it like this...

if at the end of the case the jurors all agree that the State DIDN'T PROVE it wasn't self defense........ but the same time, the Defense DIDN'T make a case that it was self defense..... then what?

so neither side make a case for their client ... both failed..

what's the verdict in your opinion and why?

if both sides failed, then it is 100% NOT GUILTY.

again, thats just how the law works

At first I felt kind of weird about it because you're "supposed" to be the main breadwinner, right?  But a few things set my mind at ease:

-It isn't like I'm eating off my wife and using her--I put in much work at the crib w/ the kids and running **** around here.  My being here allows her to do what she has to do for our family, if that makes sense.

-It isn't forever.  I'm college educated, so jobs will be there when this ends.  I'm toying with the idea of finding something I can do from home though, because now that I'm out of that 9-5 mindset, I never want to go back.  **** is depressing.

-It was her idea.  I actually resisted it for months.  The baby of the bunch was born in May of 2011 and I didn't quit my job until March of 2012.  So if she's cool with it, I am too.

At the end of the day, I can see how someone might look at me as less than a man or something.  It's all good, as we all have our opinions.  Fortunately, all that matters to me is what's best for my family.  And when my baby girl smiles at me after a session of shooting hoops or playing with her dolls, the opinions of the naysayers are the furthest thing from my mind.

man i wish i got to be a stay at home dad.

my little girl is 3 weeks old and i only got to take 2 weeks off work for family leave. i cant wait to leave the office each day and go home to see her. my wife on the other hand is itchin to get back to work. after 3 weeks, shes had enough of the staying at home and taking care of home/kid stuff.

Damn.

I won't say that what I do is difficult, but there are definitely challenges with staying at the crib.  Being an ENGAGING parent is challenging because nobody wants to do kid **** like color, build popsicle stick houses and all that.  You have to force yourself to engage your kid instead of plopping them down in front of cartoons all day.  Not to mention my kid wakes up going 100 mph and only slows down for naptime and bedtime.  Makes it difficult to get a lot of other essential stuff done, to be honest.  It was MUCH easier when I could set her on her play mat and all she'd do was roll around a little.

All that said, I can't even complain.  I'm fortunate to be in my position, and even though I'm actually looking forward to working again, I'll enjoy this until she heads off to kindergarten or my wife freaks out.     Whichever comes first.

I know all about that life. My youngest one just turned 4.

You said it perfectly, "being an ENGAGING parent...." .... I feel bad when I find things to simply occupy her lol... like you said putting them down in front of cartoons. it's hard as hell to not do that. I can only color and play toddler games for so long before I wanna jump off the roof.
i do as well. or like my son constantly wants to play simon says i feel bad saying i dont feel like it right now cause it seems he wants to play it for HOURS.

What about it? People star fights get their butt whopped everyday

Only reason why GZ aproach him is because he new he had that gun.
That's the thing.  If I'm carrying a gun, I ain't approaching people or starting fights.  If you talk to people who carry guns every day for self-defense, even they are iffy about getting hugs.

So Zimmerman starting the fight, just doesn't make any sense to me.  I mean, if they prove he did start the fight then he is guilty.  But if Trayvon turned around and started throwing haymakers, then GZ is in the clear.  But the fact that he suffered a broken nose and lacerations on his head justify the shooting in my head.

The only thing that really determines this case is who truly instigated this fight...

I wish we could all agree following and chasing are 2 different things

If I'm walking in a direction and you walking in the same direction that technically is following but you could possibly mean me no harm

But if I start running and you start running after me that's chasing

2 totally different things

How is that legal

What gives you the legal right to chase somebody

Stay-at-home dad, ftw.  Unemployed on purpose.  :pimp: :pimp:
no wonder u called disneyworld a money grab  j/k

Oh, we have the income.  It just worked out that me quitting my job to stay at home with the little one made sense financially, thanks to my wife earning far more $$ as a RN than I ever did.  Put it this way--half of my monthly earnings from my state government job would've went to covering daycare costs.  :x   Luckily, the wife is in a position where she can essentially cover what I earned by working a couple of extra shifts a month.

Disney is still a money grab though.
she got a sister :nerd:

She looking for a real man?

haha jk, child care prices are OUTRAGES.

I went to my old job (child care for the military and they started chargin for the summer again)

there use to be 60-80 kids a day during the summer, only 8-14 now that they are chargin based off income.

Oh really.  So why do you think Zimmerman got out of his car and chased Trayvon to begin with in the first place??
I've known people black and white to actually confront people they don't recognize, I've even seen my father literally run out the door at midnight in the suburbs because there were people standing out on the corner for a while.  It could easily have been that Zimmerman felt sketchy about Martin for some reason and tried to catch up to him and Martin freaked out.

I'm not denying it isn't a sad story that could have been easily avoided, but I wanna be careful about crucifying Zimmerman when I could see myself doing the same thing if I thought sketchy people were scouting the neighborhood. :/

Perfect example

If I'm driving normal speed limit and police start following then decide to pull me over and I take my time pulling over the 1st thing they'll say is

When you saw us following why didn't you pull over immediately I can say I didn't see you and its no big deal

But if the police start following me and I punch the gas and refuse to stop now its a police chase and I broke the law

So can someone please explain to me how its legal to chase somebody

The thing is why would chase somebody down to do nothing?
TM already tried to avoid the guy by running.
GZs see him running and has already labeled him as a criminal and tries to be superhero.
Note: he says, “These a---holes, they always get away.” Before TM started running which means he already label him *** a person that was doing criminal activity.
Isn't TM protected by the stand your ground law also.
He has already tried to avoid the situation.

So basically either you or your father are known for running up on people in your neighborhood that you two feel are "sketchy"??

For one, I would never run up on anybody who I feel is sketchy. Also, there is a difference of stalking someone in a car and then exiting your car and pursuing them on feet than what you have mention. If somebody did that to me, I'd honestly would feel like my life in danger and I believe about 90% or more of everybody in here would feel the same.

based on the logic im reading the last few pages, im basically hearing that if two people get into a scuffle and the other person shoots them...

the shooter is beating the case if no one sees the crime... the end.

if the State can't prove you weren't defending yourself, case closed.... the Defense doesn't even have to make a case that IS WAS self defense

is that what im reading?

That's what you are reading, forget the many cases like this to get a guilty verdict.
It can go both ways, this is in the hands of six WOMEN.
We just have to wait and see.

You keep saying its about emotion

Its not about emotion its about logic

Its like some of yall are mesmerized into thinking GZ is a cop

He is a normal person with no authority to be chasing somebody

If I get tired of running from him and he still chasing me I can punch in the face he's nobody

How can you not get that

You basically saying if someone is chasing you and you get tired of running from them and decide to defend yourself that its legal for them to kill you

When you were the 1 who started chasing them

How is that possible

I think Trayvon could have struck him first but its unlikely since he was running away from.

But to me its obvious at some point, trayvon "backed down".

I cant tell if that's a young person or not in the screams.

This man has no tact, first the knock joke and now this.

Where did he go to law school.
