Help me finish this guide to hip hop grid (image) experts needed

I'd put all eyez on me in historical essentials, drop CD to more essentials, and take out black album

id also take out sideline story, don't know what I'd put in though

Blueprint should have the Black Album's spot. The Chronic should be in Essentials too.

Flockaveli should be in Guilty Pleasures IMO

WTT should go in the last 3 years spot, I can't think of anything better.

Not sure why the grid is set up the way it is or what it's purpose is.

It seems to be quite limiting honestly.

I've seen "It Takes A Nation Of Millions...." considered the greatest rap album of all time fairly often. But it's not a historical essential?

3 of those Very Old School albums are Historical Essentials. Beastie Boys for the production/sampling. Paid In Full for beinga game changer in terms of lyricism. And the aforementioned "It Takes A Nation..."

You don't have a G Unit or Dipset Mixtape in that section? You could even make an argument for So Far Gone.

I personally see a lot of things off in here. No shots.

I'm curious as to what you're trying to accomplish with this.

Just the idea that you can do a "Guide To Rap" in one PDF as opposed to a novel is off IMO.

Added WTT to last 3 years
Added Chronic to 90s essentials instead of Lord Willin (2002)
Added Undun to Not Enough Love instead of Wale

What do I do with Documentary? It needs to go SOMEWHERE.

People on 4chan making a lot of push for Danny Brown's XXX to enter MIXTAPES and Born Sinner to replace Sideline Story (I can't do that).

New list

I guess this your personal list of favs right? Not a bad list at all....

I personally would have shown the south a lil more love on there... Coming out Hard, 400 Degreez, TM101

The greatest hip hop album of all time Life After Death is missing too

Cool list. Not too mad at it. I'd def swap Moment of Truth for College Dropout in the historical essentials bracket though.

Another cool category would be 'Compilation/Producer Albums.'

I'd put Flockaveli in there instead of Self Made, MOTM somewhere in experimental and find a spot for Speakerboxxx/Love Below as well as Pilot Talk.

Agree with extra categories like Compilations, Producer albums, and EPs.

Man on the Moon 1/2 could go in Experimental maybe.

Good idea btw. It's sort of a subjective topic but it's a cool project kinda thing.

i would swap out exmilitary for the money store, even though exmilitary goes hard as ****...

and definitely put some Cudi on your list.. other than that i think this little project of yours is cool, maybe add a little more info on each entry.

Yeah i agree college dropout should be removed from historical essentials and replaced with only built 4 cuban linx

Wait i didn't see this album on the list?

A game changer to the fullest

You should scrap the whole thing. It's bad.

Bone Thugs... Not Enough Love? That album sold 5 million copies. Everyone bought it and sang it.

This is not a very good representation of Hiphop. I fear where this guide will ultimately end up.

You are missing too many key players for this guide to have any credence. To name a few: DJ Premier/Gang Starr, Pete Rock, Large Professor, Ultramagnetic MC's/Kool Keith, DITC, Kool G. Rap, Masta Ace, Organized Konfusion, Boogie Down Productions, Scarface/Geto Boys, Boot Camp Clik, Big Daddy Kane, Beatnuts, Alkaholiks, Redman

OMG I DONT SEE ANY EPMD

I can go on and on, man. Seriously, no Mobb Deep? Just delay this project and head back to the lab. Every hiphop track ever made is on Youtube now so there is really no excuses. I have every right to be mad.

I like that you have East 1999 on there.

An 'underground' category would also be cool. Here's five that come to mind.

Madvillain - Madvillainy
Cannibal Ox - The Cold Vein
Murs - 3:16 The 9th Edition
Brother Ali - Shadows On The Sun
Aesop Rock - Labor Days
