Ray Donovan; new series on showtime

Now that's a family gathering   I was thinking it was a bad idea cuz it'd lead to a typical fight but damn it led to a lot more lulz than I thought.

Just to address it the Donovan's are clearly not racist given how all of them accepted Daryll rather quickly. They don't like his mom for obvious reasons. Has nothing to do with skin color. It's all under the surface with the comments before they come out and say it outright. Ray repeated to Mickey I said no hos  She's the one that did the dirt and then had Mickey's kid.

I knew Bunch's friend was gay  Son was feeling him too much and seeming too jealous about his date.

I really liked that ending after all that **** that happened. Thoguht they'd end it on him calling the reporter but that letting loose to Run DMC had me  Especially after they show everyone going off to their own thing.

The clear solution to the gym thing would be for Ray to give Terry the money and lie about buying him out and just keep his name on the deed or w/e but nah he's not in control of things. Already on edge with his woman, son just lashes out hard after all that drinking.

I continue to dislike Abby and the daughter. It's cuz of them I'm like why don't Ray get a divorce :smh: I couldn't stand having a family like that.

Mickey was hilarious. Jon Voight needs more nominations for this performance. So on point.

Great ep.

how is it such a big deal bringing her to the party when they train her son (the evidence of what their father did) every day?

and have no problems w him but w her its a problem?

Not the same at all. C'mon son. Daryl didn't do anything but be born.

One minute you're implying their racist. Then in the next breath, you mention that they cool with Daryl and Pie.

You seem mad confused

I think Ray is far from a scumbag. Dude has like the most stressful life on TV.

No chill moments at all lol

He extorts/blackmails for a living how can not be a scumbag? Cheating on his wife with several different women and he's terrible parent.

Most of the stuff he stresses about can be avoided aside from when he's on the job. A prime example is the Terry/Gym situation he could have just bought Terry out or said ok we'll sell so he'd leave it alone while they were in the room. Abby/the kids are annoying but Ray plays a hand in that too. He's very sloppy when it comes to non work related stuff.

Man Ray went in on terry

Unloaded a full clip on Terry.

And Ray doesn't like Nadine because she's black he dislikes her because Mickey was messing with her while Ray's mother was dying from cancer.

Bunchy's friend was giving off the gay vibe when he was first introduced a few episodes. Got Bunch questioning his sexuality now.

This Donovan family is so dysfunctional.

its a difference between being cool w black people and being tolerant of black people

like they can tolerate darrell and pie because of the boxing

but nadine serves no purpose to them so therefore shes not accepted

like im not trying to say their racist, im just saying its weird its to be cool w the son and hold a grudge against his mom

like they cant place the blame entirely on the father because why?

That's the nature of his Job though. A drug dealer can be a decent guy. Ray's family seems rather unappreciative to me. This guy goes out his way to try to be there for his family.

Dudes not perfect, but his family expects him to be, and blames him for every single thing.

I really don't understand the hate for Abbey, Ray is an emotionally distant adulterer. He is no way a good husband or father. He uses money to buy his family's love when all they really want is for him to be there. An Ray knows this but refuses to do it. Abbey is starved for love and attention, not just women, but all people crave that. So i don't understand how she can be faulted for looking elsewhere for it. She even tried to rationalize Ray's behavior to the therapist and he pulls her card when he calls Ray's "gifts" for what they are, bribes.

Ray is the guilty party in that relationship.

Nail on head.

I don't understand the bob storyline...the girl he's stalking is that the same chick that locked herself in ray's bathroom? And he's stalking her because the guy she's with is beating her? Is that right? Poor Daryl...poor all the kids. Mickeys an insensitive jerk who's responsible for the messed up lives they all live. His pedophile jokes are always out of line.

Btw I hate the fact that they always show Terry's extra saliva when he gets pissed and yells

Bob is stalking her because he's a stalker..  He's been stalking her long before author guy showed up. He might be beating her though.

Yall funny man

Oh ok. At the end he broke a lamp and she had a black eye. She was outside waving so I was thinking she felt like she had a confidant. And bob had said he was protecting her. So maybe taking photos of the beatings...

weird, this might be one of the best episodes of the series so far lol. Or at least one of my favorites.

"conor wanted the family, he got the family"

Hands down the best episode of this and the 1st season.

"Your 14, you should always know what time it is"
Dope scene

Edit: I'm seeing a lot of Emmy tele tonight.

Was surprised that tonight's episode was directed by Schreiber, was this his first time directing an episode?

Just checked, it is his directorial debut for the series. It was indeed done very well.

OK man. I don't know how much better I, or anyone else in here can explain in.

Daryl did nothing but be born. CLAUDETTE was ******* their married father while their mom was dying.

They "tolerate" Daryl and Pie because of Boxing? You know this how?

This episode deff brought the LULZ...

That priest joke was so foul....

So many classic moments deff one of the top episodes of the series so far!

I don't know but he killed it.
It is also the highest rated ep on IMDB thus far, of either seasons. 9.8/10

This episode was actually Liev Shreiber's directorial debut. :pimp:

I swear I can't stand Terry's chick... :smh:

They place a ton of blame on Mickey. Where you been at? The way I see it the Donovan's see both of them in the wrong. Thing is Mickey is still family and he has a history of horrible deeds. They look at Claudette like she should've known better, she shouldn't have continued to take part in disrespecting and breaking apart what little of that family was left especially while the mother was sick. That's just a low blow. Takes two to do the deed so no way Claudette wouldn't get blame.

I don't see it as tolerate at all. They accept Daryll. He's family, albeit new but Claudette isn't and she already did dirt that disrespected all of them in their eyes.

Maybe i missed it..but did they explicitly show and reveal the fact that nadine knew she was sleeping with a married man? if not, how can she be at fault for something that she herself was totally ignorant of? Mickey could have just been living a double life.

They never fully showed the exact situation but from what's been mentioned a few times. Mickey left the family like he probably tends to do and shacked up with Claudette and eventually got her pregnant before he went to prison.

It's like the whole time the mom was sick and they were wondering where Mickey was he was off getting off with his new woman. Ray obviously tracked him down and had words with Mickey, and probably Claudette too going off what she said when she talked about being invited. So at some point back then she must've been aware of the situation somewhere in the middle of her relationship with Mick.

For everybody, names been getting confused for me so I looked it up, shorty name is Claudette (not sure where or how I got lost with the name Nadine) and the son's name is spelled Daryll

honestly that still dosent mean she knew. if you are going off what claudette said to Ray, i wouldnt jump to the assumption that Ray had words with her. After everything finally came out that Mickey was married with a family obviously she should be expecting hostility from their family.

If Mickey just bounced on the family then imo she wouldnt have known unless he told her. Looking at Mickey and Darryls relationship...initially Darryl saw no wrong in Mickey (prior to him betting against him in the fight in mexico) so it made it seem like Mickey was there for a good majority of him coming up prior to going to jail.

Plenty of dudes living double lives and neither party having no clue.

im just sayin to me its like what sully's mom said

it wasnt just the fact that he stepped out on their mom when she was sick

he probably did it a lot and with a lot of women

what made her different is that she was black

I'm going off what Claudette said to Mickey. She said something like after last time (they met) I'm surprised Ray would invite me. Meaning Ray had words with her back in Boston. She definitely knew Ray had problems with her and imo she should know exactly why.

It's the scene when they're in the car or right before they get in the car.

EDIT

I just watched it and she specifically says "I'm surprised Ray invited me. He had such a hard time with us when he was a kid." Then Mick says he got over it. Going off that it also seems Mickey carried on a relationship with her after his wife died making it a bit more of a sting to the kids. IMO Claudette knows the deal. It's right before Mick tells Daryll to put the cap on

Youre entitled to your opinion and i guess you are missing my point. Any kid is going to not like the woman their father cheated on their mother with. either scenario (yours or mine) is likely. However to put the entire blame on claudette is not how it should be imo. Mickey is clearly the true dirtbag.
