Official AJKO OG Thread (Everything AJKO Related)

to say ko's > leather will get a lotta dudes upset b/c they have spent a hefty resale for leather 1's.. the ko is the economical alternative at this point in time..

Can't beat old sb suede, like what was used on irons. Not sb but similar were original viotechs.
Was just talking about finding a pair of Irons in the SB thread. Such a dope shoe. I still haven't seen a pair in person unfortunately.

Price value wise
KOs>Leather

But if leather AJ 1s were priced the same as KOs on the resale market, I would easily go with them

Funny thing is..

KOs look more similar to the OG "leather" royals than the most recent retro "leather" royals..

But what do I know.
yeah.. I think your expertise in the other brand / runners sub-forums was better

Dude posted a pretty dam good video with all royals released..

The latest leather pair had a purple Hue to it..

But I'am retired from Jordan's for some time.

Only recent Jordan's I have purchased in years are the KOs.

he's right tho... the 2013 royals do have a purple, duller, hue to them... compared 2001's and OG's...

the sport blue KO's are closer to the original color...

It's kind of not fair to compare different materials, but it's pretty close. I feel royal should be a brighter blue in general.

I've chatted with a Japanese collector at one of the shops here in LA who had the 85 royals since the early 90s, one of the things he mentioned that the blue color have turned much lighter than what it used to be, same case for many of his other sneakers 20+ years old, so color fades even now you can see many 2001s even some DS ones where it turned lighter, the swoosh & the rest of the shoes isn't even the same color anymore

we can't truly compare colors of a faded 3 decade old pair to a brand new one

^^^True.
I hope they drop black and red for these. I love the Chicago pair (the sport blue was coo) but I'd love to see it in the black and red color.

The royals tend to fade or haze up whenever you try to clean them. How do you get rid of that ? I've barely worn them and when I was cleaning the soles some of the water got on the black canvas and even after I got it off it still left them looking really faded looking. Any idea how to fix this ?

... Too late now. They're basically dark grey at this point

If that's how easily the color goes I'll stick to leather AJ1s from now on. I was cleaning the soles and just a bit of soapy water dripped onto the canvas and even after trying to get it out with a clean wet rag and filtered water immediately after the color was screwed.
