THEE OFFICIAL PLAYOFFS THREAD OF THE B2B NBA CHAMPIONS @MiamiHEAT

I definitely agree with taking the more "popovich" approach and emphasizing rest on our team. We could still end up a top 3 seed, and we are a pretty good road team. Health, especially for Wade because of his knee, is critical if the Heat want to win another one. LeBron actually looked gassed out too. I guess that 27 game win streak really took a toll on them.
exactly.   there's nothing left for them to prove in the regular season, and i don't think home court is that huge for a team like them.     they beat okc when they had home court,  won in boston in a must win game 6 last year, took care of business in san antonio and left with a win to send the series back to miami.

watching the 08-10 lakers which slightly remind me of these heat in terms of situations.   lose in 08/ lose in 11  both in 6,   win in 09/win in 12  both in 5,    win in 10/win in 13 both in 7 with both teams coming back down 3-2.    that 2010-11 laker team was worn out and inconsistent,   granted this heat team is younger so i doubt the fatigue will be as much of an issue but it will be there.     barring injuries, if they pace themselves miami has a damn good chance to make it back to the finals next season.

Yeah. They don't need to try to win 33 lol. Rest is more important. 2012 they were able to sustain their energy easier because they didn't have that huge win streak and were able to really pace themselves and save the better part of their tanks for the post season.

No doubt, well you guys enjoy the parade and everything. Ill be in your season thread next season. Ima go to the laker heat game in Mia so ill be asking the locals for spots to check out and see if anyone on the board is down to reach the game as well.

I agree with you guys on the acquisition of Gramps Oden, we definitely need a big body down there. I cant watch another series with Roy looking like Hakeem-lite :smh: Also agree that our chances at the 3 peat rest on whether Wade comes into the postseason healthy or hobbling like the past 2 years. If he's able to play at the level we know he's still capable of, it makes things easier on everyone else in the long run.

Last year Wade was good in the crucial parts of the post season.
This year as well, for the most part.

Signing Greg might be very interesting if we could get him

Wow, has it really been this long? Greg Oden hasn't played since 2010 - 3 full basketball seasons. Since before the big 3 got together - plus more than half of the previous season as well.

I still think they should sign him. He's still only 25. And he did the right thing, unlike Grant Hill and some others. He took several seasons off in an attempt to fully recover, hopefully permanently. Apparently, he's been working really hard and he says that money won't be an issue. He said he wanted to sign with the Heat several times. The reward could be huge. With the Blazers, had he remained healthy, he could easily have been a 15 point on 55-60% shooting, 12 rebound and 3 block player. With the Heat, he could be a double double player with a couple of blocks. As a legit 7 footer. We know enough from the little time that he played with the Blazers that in terms of on court ability, he's no bust, certainly not Hasheem Thabeet/Darko Milicic. He got in foul trouble a lot, but with the Heat he would have better defenders around him than he did in Portland so it won't be as big of a problem.

Remember that even the injury bust Sam Bowie who missed tons of games in the second half of the 80s had a couple of decent seasons with the Nets in the early 90s. Greg Oden has obviously missed a big chunk of his career already, but he could still tun out to have halfway decent seasons like Bowie.

I think we might use our MLE on Birdman. We woukd have to let go of like, Joel Anthony and maybe someone else

Gratz, guys. :smokin

I was definitely one of those who originally picked the Heat (in 6), but like I've said, I picked y'all because I thought the fix would be in.

HECK no. Y'all won, straight up. And I've said it to a few people in the Finals thread, that the ref talk is baseless. And I'll continue to tell people, because THAT... was a great series.

Miami Heat championship celebration at Bamboo - (6/21/2013)

Miami Beach, FL – June 21, 2013 – The party didn’t stop last night as the Miami Heat’s Big 3 took over Bamboo Nightclub following their championship win. NBA Champions, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh continued the celebration alongside Drake, Timbaland, and Hollywood legend, Spike Lee. For the second year in a row the champions were presented with an exquisite cake resembling their Larry O’Brien NBA Championship Trophy as well as a second customized cake honoring their victory.

^I figured Nike would've kept going with the checked boxes next to his accolades, finals Mvp, nba championships.

I need one of those 2013 mini larry o'brien trophies to go along with the 2012 mini larry o'brien trophy!
