nobody is. how long it take for anybody to want to play with them after the end of the great boston era of the 80's?

gonna be another 20 years....

and you know why....
No I don't, tell us why,

Other than weather I don't see why anyone would avoid Boston.

I think he's referring to the fact that Boston sports fans are often regarded as racists.

There was a good article posted not too long ago. If I find it, I'll edit in here.

Not just the sports fans. The entire city has a racist stigma placed on it.

And let's not kid ourselves here.

Unless Jeff Green can be the guy he was in the playoffs on a consistent basis...that Celtics team is lottery bound.

Nah man...depending on who is in the draft. Like this years draft for example was weak as hell.

The Bobcats have been lottery bound for the longest, and have only made the playoff's once.

Clippers of the 90's come to mind also...

The whole idea of Free agents choosing warm weather as the first priority now a days is exaggerated. It's more like the 3rd reason.

Money/Winning/Location in that order is the modern NBA UFA free agency of now a days, theirs too much variables to consider, winning rosters, decent offer from the salary cap, RFA with having your offer matched, P.R reasons, and the history of the team plays a part into it too.

The 24 years the Celtics had without a championship was due to bad management and bad decision making, period.

I know people here don't follow the Celtics much but we have the best owners you could really ask (Wyc Grousbeck) for your team that only hire the best.

Ainge is not just a decent G.M he's one of the best and if he were to leave Boston, teams would be lining up to hire him.

Running an organization to me is like being a doctor you have to diagnose it, than build a plan of attack to treat it. You got teams patching their issues and totally ignoring them in the first place.

IMO Boston will get a big free agent within 5 years, they will have a great solid roster to compliment them and they'd be right there to win it.
also to add the same can be said about any of the historic teams ala lakers, pistons, knicks....

Players concerns nowadays are....what players/moves can the team make, and how the ownership is. Trust and believe that.... Aint like come free agency a player like a LeBron or a Melo is gonna forgo a potential playoff team or a team that's making moves, like lets say a rockets to go to the Celtics/Lakers/Pistons because of the history or past legacies.

I'm from Boston and this is a ridiculous notion, So Boston is racist to the point it is different than any other northern city ? Chicago, NY, Philly really no difference in how people interact, and I'm referring to the Boston of now, not the 60's.

Also people are underestimating how weak the east really is, Boston will be somewhere from the 10th to the 7th seed and the Win and loss record will not be great. If we make the players we barely make it, if we dont we wont be the worst seed on the east, not even close.

I always hear this about Boston...

as constructed right now I think the raptors, pistons, cavs , wizards, and hawks are all better than the celtics

I said next year for a reason, the draft is loaded.

He's saying that because the upcoming draft is not weak as hell.

Getting a potential franchise cornerstone > getting blasted in 4 games by Miami.

And the east is weak...but the team WITH Rondo, KG, and PP managed a 7th seed. Ya'll really think they can get a 7th/8th seed with Rondo, Jeff Green, Bradley as their core?

 Nah.

yea but both of those teams didnt know how to draft.

On the playoff or lottery question...

I would rather make the playoffs. As what we've seen over the last few years, injuries do happen and nothing is a surefire exit. On top of injuries happen, teams can get hot and a player can have an amazing series to push his team past the favorites. Is it unlikely? Sure. But, its probably more unlikely to get the #1 pick in the lottery as a lower level lottery team. Compare how many teams with the 6th worst record in the league or better have won the lottery over the last 5 years. Then, look at the teams who had the 6th seed or worst in the playoffs that beat the better seed.

I never checked the numbers, so it may not even be close  . But, I would like to know so if any of you do it, thanks in advance.

And there lies the problem, your bias or should I say grew accustom to it being from there. I been there and Boston is a different kind of racist. Its more of a in advert/covert kinda racist.

But to boston chances of being a lower seed in the playoffs...its not out of the realm of possibility. The team that they have could easily be a 40-50% win team that could put them in a lower seed. I mean didn't Milwaukee get in winning 41% of their games at like 36-38 games.

Are guys really saying boston will be a less than 30 win team? Really..... Out of all the teams that didn't make it, who got better to which could get in? Cleveland and possibly maybe Detroit. Other then that none of the other teams who didn't make it haven't did anything leaps and bounds to make the playoffs and for Boston not to make it.

Last season, this Boston team probably could've made the playoffs. The east is more competitive now, so I don't think they'll make it.

 Nah.

If Olynyk plays in the season like he's playing now they get 8th

That was actually a very well written piece.

Smh if Lebron joins the lakers man I swear!

Melo is a lil punk so he will prob join bryant instead of compete against him but this is why I can't stand this spoiled lakers franchise.

I know bryant is orchestrating a lot of this behind doors. He is very desperate to get another ring and already said he won't leave so he is behind doors on his knees begging bron to join him, lol/smh sickening!

 Nah.

Don't know if you're just realizing this but Rondo went down with a torn ACL like 30 games into the year. That left them with pretty much no real point guard. Also, Sullinger went down for the year, Bradley didn't come back til later in the season, Wilcox went out for the season. Regardless of all those things, when you lose your point guard your team is gonna struggle. And Rondo is a damn good one...we'll see that on full display this year when the team is finally fully in his control.
