Oh yeah everybody has a preference but to say Hakeem is the greatest center without prefixing with at least an "arguably" is silly to me and disrespectful to the other greats

Do you feel that way in terms of people categorizing Mike as the GOAT period?

Yeah I kinda do.

I feel Wilt, Russell and Kareem don't get enough consideration enough for being the greatest player of all time

But then I realize it's futile to debate people about it, because Jordan played in the modern era and was unblemished in key moments.

I respect that.

As great as he was Mike really benefited TV, Media, & from Stern's globalization, it allowed him to be idolized all over the world as he was dominating.

His marketing played just as big a part in his status as his play, hell you can argue even more honestly.

Bill Simmons ‏@BillSimmons 1h
When I get home I'm signing up my 5 and a half year old son for Twitter so he can defend me against Doc Rivers' kids.

The Celtics will definitely get the better end of the deal.

And to the guy who said Hakeem is the greatest center of all time must've forgot Kareem, Wilt and Russell ever played

What about Shaq? If I was starting a team and had to pick one center past or present, it would be Shaq.

I never saw Russell or Wilt play though, so I'm a bit biased.

Shaq vs Hakeem, that's hard

I love Shaq and he was dominant but he had Kobe, Wade and Penny.

Hakeem won 2 championships with a no-name cast although they were totally built to play off his strengths.

But I'm kinda torn with Hakeem because he was only really really great for 2-3 years. And the Rockets were never really the dominant team in the league from my memories.

But it's hard for me to put Hakeem over Shaq especially since Shaq has 4 rings. But Shaq doesn't have any rings where he was the guy without another all time great. So I'd say Hakeem over Shaq

Those 2018 and 2016 first round picks the Celtics are getting could be good since KG and Pierce should be long gone by both those years, and who knows where Deron and JJ will be or if they'll even be leading the Nets.

I know prime Hakeem gave young Shaq the business, but if 28 year old Hakeem faced off against 28 year old Shaq, I'm not sure I'm leanin Dream's way.

Skill vs Bully/Skill, Shaq can get it done both ways.

And I don't know enough about prime Kareem, Wilt, Russ to know what they could or couldn't do. (know, I was not alive during their prime's wise *** dudes, save it)

Exactly.

Simmons also claims that the Celtics hold the right to swap 2017 First Rounders with the Nets. So basically if the Nets fall apart in ANY of those 3 years, the Celtics get their pick. That's outstanding value.

Paul and KG :frown: Thanks for everything guise. P2 leaving the Celtics feels like the official end of my childhood :smh:

That being said i like the value :pimp: :pimp: Mad picks coming our way :smokin

Celtics about to have a couple down years, though. Hopefully Rondo can keep his emotions intact and ride this thing out. I wish they would extend him for big money.

I hope Brooklyn does well next year and is a top 3 seed in the East.

probably not right thread but can someone post the D-WADE fist pump gif when he is on the sidelines about to check in? Really would appreciate it.

dude is a straight clown, theres no excuse for him doing the draft last night.

he knows nothing about basketball.

Actually, he does.

He might rub people the wrong way due to his homerism, but he knows his ****.

Not for nothing, last night's ESPN crew was the absolute best that they've put together for a draft. Hope they keep the same group together next year. Rece Davis was the glue that held everything together. He's so good.

Shaq would've still gotten his food ate on the defensive end, but he would've given as much as he got.

The thing we don't know is how would Shaq have responded to getting the David Robinson treatment?

He never actually had to guard anyone during that run so we don't know how he would've faired HAVING to play both ends.

ronho will be exposed

IF he puts up the same #'s ill be the first to swallow my words & give the lil $%&^& his props

but im 97.9% sure i wont

the nets have an all star starting 5 huh? in what year? 2007? 2008?

paul pierce and KG are on the wrong side of the hill. no doubt they'll be productive, but for how long? why does anyone still trust in joe johnson? with all that said, this team is built for right now. if they don't win it all this year, i can see the squad getting blown up in the near future

In all fairness Joe Johnson did play his best basketball when he was a 3rd option in PHX and wasn't depended on to score 20 a night

Wasn't that like 7 years ago?

Same numbers with lesser talent around him? C'mon now

Yeah because a team thats goal is to make it to the finals should have a rookie coach..... I said this from the moment he was hired that he wasnt the man for this job, and these recent moves have made this even more apparent. I dont think he will be able to control this roser, Deron Williams in Particular. I dont think Jason Kidd is someone he will want to have telling him how to play though. This is all my opinion though and I can easily be proven wrong come next season.

Don't get me wrong, this team is still good. They should be better than the Knicks easy but not the Pacers or that other team.

I actually expect his scoring to increase and his assist numbers to take a slight hit.

For the most part he MADE all of the plays he gets assists on so I'm not expecting much of a drop off.

Of course this is all based upon once he gets back to 100%.

Question. Why didn't they trade him? Some team would have shelled out a first rounder for him...

Man; and here I was thinking Reke was 'gon be the next Bron :smh:

And bill simmons is a good writer. He's an awful on air personality. He knows about basketball but doesn't seem to know the Xs and Os of it all. Him and jalen did an nba version of grudens qb camp and simmons didn't offer any substantive comments whatsoever

As a Bulls fan you should of gave him his props when he was the Player carrying that team against the bulls in their series

I think he's very biased and tends to believe he knows more about basketball than some actual players do.

Bill Simmons needs to go. He's tolerable when he's not in front of the camera...he makes himself look like a fool on air though.

hell no

Between his unashamed homerism and ridiculous trade proposals, I really don't need to see him on my tv

I dont think the Celtics will be very good this year but i expect Rondo to be playing with a large chip on his shoulder. I think his numbers will increase, perhaps sans assist #'s (from last year). He has a career average of 8 assists, though. I think he'll keep that pace. Also grab like 5 boards and 2 steals a game per usual.

I also expect him to have multiple triple doubles .

At the end of the day a lot will be riding on JEFF GREEN. If he can play up to his superstar potential; Rondo to Green could be magical.

I can't imagine they haven't been trying to move him. It was pretty clear when they drafted Macklemore that it was the end for Tyreke in Sacramento. Other teams probably realize the Kings want to dump him and are low-balling them with trade offers. But they might as well take something, rather than let him walk for nothing.

Yeah, I'm not a fan either. I think he's better suited to being a writer. A lot of his stuff seems very forced on TV. And I'd feel this way about him even if he didn't take shots at the Clippers every chance he gets.

Jerryd Bayless is opting in to his $3.1M deal.

So, the Grizz draft Jamaal Franklin (TA's replacement), Bayless opts in ($3.1M). Either TA is not coming back, which I think he is or Memphis moving Bayless and/or Prince in a future deal.
