Final details of trade:

Celtics Receive = 2014, 2016, 2018 (the latter two unprotected) first rounders, Gerald Wallace, Kris Humphries, MarShon Brooks, Keith Bogans
Nets Receive: Garnett, Pierce and Jason Terry.

If Nets dont win it all this year. Complete FAIL.

At least they're trying now. In previous years, they wouldn't do a damn thing. I can accept the failure if one is trying their damnedest.

Why fail?

Contrary to popular belief, we have like 3 players over 30.

Brook Lopez is just entering his prime. Deron and JJ have a couple high level years in then and they both have games that aren't dependent on athleticism. We have two Euro stashes with good potential, including one SF who may come this year. A couple young prospects on the team (plumlee, tyshawn, shengalia). Blatche, who's an idiot but getting into his prime now.

I don't get people who think this trade is killing our future. Those are late firs round picks and marshon brooks. Not franchise killers.

I dont see KG and Pierce lasting past this year if it doesnt work out. JJ is gone by 2015.

2016 or 2018 one of those will be lottery imo.

Not to mention Deron can take him man into the paint and abuse on smaller guards

And don't get me started on the cp3 and his overrated defense.
and cp3 doesn't get to the paint at will?

if CP3 defense is overrated what will you can Derons?

The funny **** is the Nets are now the new Knicks.

Billy King is spending Prokh's money (nearly $60 mill in just luxury tax) on a team that might advance past the 1st round this time but not do much of anything else. Are they better today than they were last week? On paper it looks good. The reality of it though is a LOT of if's have to go their way.

The Jason Kidd hire looks even more bizarre. I don't care who it is, a roster built to win now shouldn't be led by a recently retired player-turned-head-coach. They're not in a position to take risks on the guy in charge of managing that roster.

The "no regard for money" mentality is what you want from the owner but my issue is them is they don't have the right people in charge of basketball operations.

Wasn't nothing inadvertent about it. LMAO

Question for you guys that really get the CBA... The Mavs plan is apparently to sell Dwight on the idea of teaming with Dirk this year, getting through one year, then going into next offseason with Dirk taking a massive paycut and bringing in two max-caliber guys...

Just hypothetically... Does that impact their ability to fill out the roster? Obviously once they get to the cap, it's minimum level guys and draft picks, correct? At what point within the new CBA do they start losing the mid-level exceptions and those types of things?
Yes and no.

With the luxury tax being acting as a hard cap for teams, I think the rule for teams will be paying their top three players around $40 million at most (or four players-$45). So the other $30 million or so will be left to fill out the roster before you hit the tax. So basically franchises can't mismanage assets like MLE and first round draft picks like before.

If you pay the tax, you only get the mini-MLE, which is around $3 million. If you are not paying the tax, you get the "full" MLE which is like $5 million but then that hard caps you so you can't take more than $4 million above the luxury tax apron for the season.

here you go

For over-the cap teams:
  • Called the full or standard mid-level exception
  • Maximum four-year contract
  • Maximum $5MM first-year salary
  • Maximum 4.5% annual raises
  • First-year salary grows by 3% annually starting in 2013/14
For taxpaying teams:
  • Called the mini mid-level, or the taxpayer mid-level exception
  • Maximum three-year contract
  • Maximum $3MM first-year salary
  • Maximum 4.5% annual raises
  • First-year salary grows by 3% annually
I just want to know what the players union and dirks agent will tell him if he says he will take the vet minimum to play for dallas next year if they sign max players

What the **** you expect Rondo to do when the whole team is gone? Play 1 on 5 and beast?

He'll be fine. But he's obviously a pass first point guard. So he needs players to pass to...obviously.
He's not a shoot first point guard who can now take over and score 35 a game.

Id love to have rondo in LA. We need a ball dominant point guard who can take some pressure off Kobe in his last year.
Nash was too timid. He should of been more ball dominant than he was. And on top of that...he's so old and beat up now. :smh:

Or maybe it's silly to predict him turning into a bum before this trade even happens.

Rondo is one of the best PGs in the league. Slander about his weaknesses, but let's not pretend he'll suddenly become a below average player.

rondo played with one hand in the playoffs and won

and he played with a torn acl .......he's gonna ball regardless

he's too alpha too fail

big 2 in boston wasnt exactly lighting it up last year but

rondo was leading the league and assist and triple doubles

and i think still had more triple doubles than anyone in league

only playing half a season
