And saying it's the worst trade ever, is simply hyperbole..

1) we don't know how far the thunder would have went if Westbrook had not gotten hurt (a player who played a major part in okc getting to the finals the year before).. Which covers the one season Martin was brought in for (but did win 60 games)

2) we don't know how good lamb or Adams will be.. Or hell even whoever we get with the mavericks' pick.. Then there is the cavs' 2nd

3) magic, Barkley, Kareem and wilt have all been traded (magic techinically wasn't traded.. The lakers acquired a draft pick from a crappy team, which turned out to be the 1st overall pick and magic

This. If Lamb is good next year, theyre paying him peanuts for the next 3 years. Same with Adams. Beard is getting the max next year. Thats what OKC risked. This wasnt a short term trade so people need to chill. PLUS a contending team like OKC wasn't going to give a rookie minutes, so I dont know why everyone assumes Lamb is a bust already. :smh:
Lamb couldn't even get minutes over Perry Jones last yr. Let that sink in for a minute. He played less than 200 minutes his rookie yr. The only 1st rd picks who played less minutes last year Royce White, Fab Melo, Jared Cunningham and Miles Plumlee. And this is for a team that lead the NBA in margin of victory i.e had TONS of blowouts to get minutes in. No doubt Brooks isn't the most flexible with lineup changes or liking rookies instead of vets, but when you can't get minutes over PJ3, something else is there. Maybe he doesn't play hard in practice. I don't know. Liggins, granted he is 25, played more minutes than Lamb last season

As far Harden, he asked for a trade kicker not a no trade clause. And based on Presti's exit speech where Presti admitted they wouldn't have kept the core together long term even if they did sign, it was a smart move. Presti called offering James a contract "a short term solution," then went on to talk about how they don't want to pay the tax if they can avoid it and certainly no repeater tax (FYI only 2 champions in the last decade weren't in the tax)

Rose is just setting himself up for more criticism when he returns. if he's not back to his old self, sports media will bring up this quote about how he's the best in the NBA.

imagine the backlash if dwight howard waited till he personally felt he was ready to play
EXACTLY.

great point

this guy dwight came back early and not at 100 percent and people were still bashing him
& he showed he should've sat his *** down until he was 100 cuz he provided zero difference being on the court

& he was getting bashed well before he was injured
Dwight played when he wasnt 100%.  Rose sat when he was 100%.  I fail to see how you dont see the difference here.

Your an OKC fan so I'll concede a little bit since you saw more games BUT you glanced over key points man.

1. Perry Jones mostly played the 4 and It's not like he beat out Lamb for consistent PT. He didn't even play 300 minutes this season.

2. Brooks is notoriously stubborn and definitely doesn't like rookies. He barely unleashed Reggie Jackson over Fisher until his hand was forced. James Harden only played 22 minutes as a rookie. Considering how high he was picked, how ready he was AND the fact that OKC was still rebuilding - that's a low number for a wing player.

3. His competition at the wings were Thabo, KD and Kevin Martin. As a 4th wing, you're expected to play mistake-free basketball - which is what Liggins provided. Lamb isn't that type of player yet ESPECIALLY not as a rookie. He needs room to make mistakes and to make plays.

4. OKC is a contending team, not one that's going to live through rookie mistakes. OKC also seems to like developing their players slowly.

All I'm saying is Lamb came into the draft as one of the more talented players coming in. That hasn't changed. The only thing that's changed is everyone prematurely burying him.

I just don't understand how management chose to pay Ibaka over Harden which prompted the trade. You could replace what Ibaka gives you, Harden, not so much.

That's not what happened..

They were both offered contracts at the same time.. Ibaka accepted his..

The front office continued to negotiate with harden, going as high as 4 years 55 mill.. Harden wanted the max (which for okc would have been 4 years 60 mill) AND a no trade clause

When harden turned down the final offer, they then started looking at trades

We obviously don't know the exact trades.. But little things have come out:

Like the wizards not wanting to give up beal.. The warriors wanting to include some of their horrid contracts.. Then the mumblings about the raptors
Either Harden was misled by his agent or there was erroneous reporting going on as Harden is/was not eligible for a no-trade clause.

Edit:

USA BB scrimmage beginning shortly.

Got really excited when I heard Calabro's voice...then felt the complete opposite when Isiah's voice kicked in lol

Lamb is good, probably, but he's not Harden or even Kevin Martin. As much as I disliked the later, he shot 42% from 3 on 6 attempts per 36, that is prolific. He also had a high fta draw % (not as much as Harden). Lamb didn't even shoot a great % consistently in summer league and at one point was getting murked by some dude named Orlando Johnson. I'd keep my expectations on him very tempered, especially considering we are looking to pursue more steady vets at his position as well.
