i still dont see Dwight going to the Mavs. Outside of Dirk, what else is there? no one

Its either Houston or LA.

I must say the Nets are absurdly lucky to get out of that deal. I have no idea what Ainge was thinking taking back that deal.
Here's a positive spin on it.
First off, let's just take a look at the numbers. In 2013-14, the Celtics have no cap space. They had no cap space before this deal, they have no cap space after this deal. Wash.

In 2014-15, the Celtics shipped out KG's $11.5 million price tag and Jason Terry's $5.3 million, that's $16.8 million leaving town (Pierce's deal expires). Coming back to Boston is Wallace at $10.1 million, and that's it. Humphries, Bogans, Joseph all have expiring deals, and Brooks has a $2.3 million option that the Celtics can decline if they want. That means in the summer of 2014, the Celtics save $6.7 million. That savings brings them down to $45.5 million in contractual guarantees for the 2014-15 season, leaving them $15 million under the cap. They will undoubtedly give Avery Bradley a qualifying offer and pick up Jared Sullinger's option, but they still figure to enter next summer with between $6-8 million in cap space, almost entirely because of this deal.

In 2015-16 the Celtics do take a hit, losing out on $10.1 million in cap space. That's obviously unfortunate, but by that point Wallace will be in the final year of his deal, and will take on value as an expiring contract. So I guess the bottom line financially over the next three years is: Wash (2013-14), Good (2014-15), Bad (2015-16). Not nearly as crushing as some have said.
It's not as bad when you look at it that way.

Hawks are going to meet with him too, from what I hear, but it seems pretty unlikely he'd wind up in the ATL.

forgot about them but for good reason

i wouldnt go there either.

best chance at winning is Houston and LA plus in LA he makes way more money. no one knows WTH hes gonna do though, i thought he would easily take the combination of winning and more money in LA but last year was a mess so who knows what happens this year

Houston makes the most sense. He won't have the attention and pressure on him and Harden will carry a lot of the load.

Dirk has been lobbying for a huge paycut after this year.

It's a lot of ifs, but...

If Dwight comes,
If Dirk has a productive year,
If the team does well overall,

Then there's lots of reason to consider Dallas. No, we don't have a James Harden or Kobe Bryant, but both of those teams have contracts that they'd need to take care of.

Lin, Asik, and Parsons will eat up a lot of their money. That doesn't leave too much room for improvement.

If the Mavs have a cheap Dirk, Dwight, and a lot of money to play with next summer? That's enticing. Or at least you'd have to think it would be.

And for the record I also think Houston makes more sense. It's just being a Mavs fan, I have to take what positives I can.

while Dirk would take a paycut its not gonna be a big one

no superstar is giving up half of what hes owed. i dont see a mil or two making a difference

D12 Is gonna go to Houston dudes meeting with them as soon as he can he's gonna meet with the coach's, players and Hakeem Olajuwon boy there gonna be fun to watch next year

doesnt matter houston will still wont leave the second round with dwight.
Are they gonna be able to keep all there pieces together and sign Dwight? Parsons ashik lin and Delfino? They also got Thomas Robinson in a trade they could shock some people next year if they land him and can keep there main pieces together

interesting question.

i hope parsins or robinson come to LA

I know Im late but why does everybody boo stern?

Basketball reasons 2 lock outs rigged games bad refs.

He used to be the best commish. Then he took a nose dive after MJ left. Started trying to manufacture superstars. Drive up the popularity and effectiveness of the guard position.
