This should be common knowledge.

You want to see why Melo can do as a number 2 without Having the responsibility to carry a team?

Watch the Olympics

Melo literally looked like the best player in the world playing on that 2012 squad

OKB: Andre Drummond would like to have a word with you.

We shall see, they are going to be neck and neck IMO.

Drummond vs Jonas should be a good argument as the season goes on.

I love drummond, I wanted the raptors to draft him BAD, if you follow me on twitter I melted down when we took Terrence Ross over him.

Jonas should have the edge this year, he just looks ready. Drummond still needs another year or two but he should continue to impress and develop.

As a big Jonas fan when he was drafted, I'm expecting a great year from him.

:smh: @ Jennings to Detroit... then again after the Smith move.. might as well throw some more **** to the wall and see what sticks.

On that note, I refer to my previous post.

:x at the thought of Jennings on the Pistons.

Might as well shoot Drummond right in the knees. Couldn't be any worse than having to play with Jennings.

And of course...

Free Drummond

Drummond is a physical specimen and elite rebounder. The offense will come, but Jonas has the edge in that department.

look at a guy like paul pierce, he was great when kg and ray arrived. kg took the pressure off paul (who still was main option on offense) but it was clearly kg's team

Exactly. Like I said, to be fair to melo there are only a few guys who are better number one options. Bron, kd.. Paul maybe rose maybe dirk maybe

But my thing is, With the exception of Born and KD, who else in the NBA are better number one options than Melo and what makes them better #1 options?

It can't be winning because as of right now, today, Only Lebron has been doing that and KD actually got to the finals. Paul? Nope. Rose? Nope. Dirk as of right now, today? Nope. He's 27 7 and 2 every night. That's a number one option.

Jonas, Drummond, and Kanter or Favors my prime candidates to breakout in 2013-2014.

Jonas can be a legitimately dominant big man that you can build around. I love the way Kanter competes but I don't think he should be in the same category as Jonas and Drummond. Favors is a guy that I think people are gonna be talking about his "potential" every year of his career. I just don't think he has it mentally to be able to go out there and dominate night in and night out.

Yeah I agree with you. Granted I'd rather have Paul and rose as my number ones but you can't really get much worse than melo as your main guy. His style of play is what irks me

With cp3 style of play hes not a reliable #1 option, thats why clippers will continue to get exposed in the playoffs until blake can get to that next level

Guess we have different definitions of exposed. We can poke holes In every superstars resume or skill set. Don't have the time or energy to do so. Bottom line it's my preference to take Paul over melo or over anyone not named James or durant. Rose harden come close though

How is cp3 not a reliable #1 option? Though he can put it in the basket, you do not have to score to be a #1

The thing I hate with Paul is I don't think he's a number one option for a team. He's obviously a great PG who is a phenomenal leader and is going to be the leader of every team he plays for, but I can't see any team winning with him as your number one scoring option. He's a bit too small to consistently get buckets in the playoffs. Guys like Thabo, Tony Allen, Russ Wess give him fits and it'll always be that way. Until Blake Griffin can become THAT guy, the clips will be hit or miss in the playoffs. I do however have them going far in the playoffs this year  just not necessarily because of paul's ability as a number one scoring option though.

Rose? Same with Paul. Won't win much with Him as your number one scoring option. Buckets are too hard to get with him as your number one option. You can put guys like Wade, James, PG, on him and boom, he's nullified into a high volume chucker.

I think Harden can potentially be a number one option, especially since he now has a top tier running mate. The roster the rockets had last year wasn't a playoff team to me, and because he got them in there says a lot about his capacity to be a top tier number one option. But as it stands, he's still unproven in that regard.

This is the reason why I think Melo is a great number one option and just needs a legit running mate. The questions surrounding Rose, Paul, are not there with Melo. He's going to fill it up and nothing will change about that.

So what does #1 mean, last time i checked that meant scoring option, just because your the best player on the team does not mean your always the #1 option

Ex: rondo, cp3 and nash in his prime

Melo doesn't need a reliable #2.

He'll BE the reliable #2 when he passes over LA for Miami
