Nobody is saying he's on barkley's level, thats crazy. But dudes out here legitimatley downplay his talent and abilities and only focus on his weakneses. I'm not even a fan of Melo (Nuggets fan) but I'll give credit where its due and recognize that he's an elite scoring talent, above average rebounder, average passer, average defender which makes him a top 5-10 player in the leage right now off the strength of that. Dominique Wilkins is a very similar player to Melo career wise. PAUL PIERCE too before he got the big 3.

Look at the people he's compared to.

Aside from scoring, what does Melo do better than Paul George

Melo: Scoring

George: Rebounding, defense, passing

give me Paul George, and not just some homer **** either, take off the ESPN superstar blinders
But Melo is THAT much better than PG as a scorer right now. The difference between rebounding and passing really is not that much, considering its paul george's role to facilitate more in indiana's offense, than melo as a stretch 4 who is asked to score.

 @ Comparing Melo's accomplishments to that of LeBron, Kobe and Duncan. He's not even in that stratosphere and I wouldn't take anyone who says he is seriously in a sports discussion.

Exactly, if you are not Lebron, Kobe or Duncan...you are horrible and you suck..overrated blah blah blah

When it comes to Melo I've always made the Paul Pierce comparison. It puts things in great perspective. Melo is in essence a better version of Paul Pierce. He gets a lot of unwarranted hate because he hasn't been able to carry a team and has had failures in the playoffs. But you put Melo in a good structure with proper complimentary players and he will perform. A lot of hate players get is based on perception and not reality. Kind of how so many people hated on Russy yet love Rose when in essence they're the same damn player. A players perception can go one way or another depending on a myriad of things. But a true unbiased NBA fan can take a step back and put things in perspective. Melo is a top tier talent. And so is Russy for that matter. Too bad it took OKC getting their rears handed to them for some to take off their hate blinders.

bro, Reggie Miller is my favorite player of all time, so obviously thats not what I'm saying lol.

And to be fair, most of NT knows who my second favorite player is....JAMAL ************ CRAWFORD!!!!

The NBA all time leader in 4 point plays

The only player in NBA history to score 50 with 3 different teams!
Melo a ***

i doubt it, plus I don't see Melo winning a title like Pierce. His EGO seems way to big, and I don't think he is going to change his game. Lakers would be a joke to sign him in 2014...lol if I'm the Knicks I would let him walk, he has been nothing but a failure since he came to NYC.

He didn't change his game last season? News to me.

and if you define failure by not winning a championship, then sure he is a failure along with a lot of other great players. His 2nd best scoring option has been JR since he's been in NY, it was supposed to be Amare and he is made of glass.

It takes 5 on the court and great coaching to win.

.fool's be buggin thinkin he is on Bron's level

Nobody does.

Melo a ***

he found a pic of melo playing defense :wow:

Why don't you post Paul George's since that's who you are saying is better than Melo

Paul George is not even in the same neighborhood as Melo. Melo had a 24.8 PER last year , lead the Knicks to the 2nd best record without a 2nd option, and lead the NBA in scoring.
Paul George is a great all around player but very inefficient on offense. He had a 16.8 PER last year, was arguably the 3rd most important player on his team, and shot 41.9 from the field while turning the ball over 2.9 times with a 23.5 usage rate. That made George the worst high usage offensive player in the NBA last season. The kid has a lot of potential but he really needs to improve on offense before he can be a decent number 1 offensive option. Meanwhile Melo is an elite offensive option.

Exactly. And yall wanna talk about Ego lol. Remember Toine and PP acting like primadonnas when they didnt get any PT in the 03 all star game lmao. They have very similar career paths. Its all about situation.

I know we all love Durant and I like almost everyone else agree he is easily the 2nd best player in basketball...

But just for arguments sake lets say we put Melo on OKC last season and KD on the Knicks. Does that drastically change how the season winds up for both those teams? Because IMO it doesn't, KD might lead them past the Pacers but its not a guarantee.
