I just checked out what Paul was doing at the age of 22 compared to Wall and :x (3rd year in the league)
28.3 PER, 21.1ppg, 11,6apg, 4rpg, 2.7spg, 48/37/85 3PT, 57%TS
Playoffs (his 1st yr):
30.7 PER, 24.1ppg, 11.3apg, 4.9rpg, 2.3spg, 50/24/79, 56%TS
Lawd.

Pat Riley has the media wrapped around his finger there. The fans show up late and dont care. lets not pretend it would be the same atmosphere, it's not an easy place to be. It would probably be more Arod than Jeter. whether it would be media created or his own fault or shortcomings.

The max deal for Wall HAD to be done. Yes, it's a risk b/c he's not yet a max player, but there are hopes that he turns himself into one, sooner rather than later. Obviously these are two different guys/positions, but look at James Harden. Got his max deal and more than proved his worth this past season. There are people who thought he should have accepted the low-ball offer from the Thunder (much like how folks think Wall should have taken a 60 mil deal), but that's not how the NBA works.
John Wall IS Wizards basketball. He's now the face of the franchise, and if last year proved anything, as he goes...so do the Wizards. The last 1/2 of the season he elevated his game to the point where you can see that he has top-3 PG potential. He's only 22 and has a lot of good basketball left in him provided he stays healthy. The FO has finally cleaned house and put a team on the floor with him who can actually compete.
I've said it before, there was no other young PG that I can remember who played with a worst cast of characters in their first 2 seasons as a pro like Wall did. What we saw out of Wall last year was a glimpse of what's to come. HEre's to him living up to the deal.
