I have a vivid memory of leaping out of my seat at my friend's house and being so disappointed he missed ]

This was pretty much my exact reaction

Then you just didn't watch the games last year

Pop didn't decrease his minutes for no reason

this is how apologists typically describe scrubs, like Kendrick Perkins for example. Apologists play up the scrubs' intangibles because they suck at the game of basketball.

In the end, they're a liability. Just like perkins. Just like Stack Jack.
... Which means what exactly? He's played in nearly 60 games since then & shot below 30% from 3 in most of them. He was so putrid that Pop moved him out of the rotation. He simply doesn't have it anymore.

We just saw something similar happen to Jason Kidd. He was solid early in the season, then he fell completely off. Stack Jack is going through something similar.
again two different players in two totally different situations...in which the needs from the players are totally different. Sjax was needed for specific key important reasons... Whereas oden isn't... he was basically the only choice option. Hell if Shaq could limp around and clog the lane and still was around and for cheap the heat could use him.

Its not like they need him to contribute in any facet offensively. They just need literally a big body. Nothing more/nothing less. He was the only option. Kinda like if your playing streetball and you got 4 great players and need a 5th person just to complete the team...This would be Oden.

Jason was a starter and played an intricate part in the knicks organization, that's nowhere near what the heat want/need from Oden. If he can pick up key fouls for other key players, make opponents think twice before coming into the lane. add size and clog the lane for big men...he has done his job. And its not like they need him to do that for an extended amount of time. Matter of fact they don't really need him...ie they did just win a chip w/o a legit big man.

Adding Oden just makes the road easier, and alleviates some of the effort/energy/fouls used by the key players when the heat face teams with a big front court ie...pacers/nets etc...

there's no way Lebron is leaving Miami, especially if Oden pans out. Pat surrounds him with so much talent every off season, there's no way he won't again the next season and every one after that. it's almost guaranteed Melo goes there.

It's just funny to me with how critical NT is about any and everything , but a guy who hasn't played a decent amount of games in 4 years gets some benefit of the doubt.

Must be a nice guy or have a weird NT cult following because I just don't see it.

And the Heat ain't making it to 4 straight, not happening.....complacency , injury , luck etc something's gonna catch up to their
Ppl said the same thing about yao ming..... hell to the point that he could still be a top tier center.... Thing is oden is only there to be a serviceable big man in minimal minutes, and be a body in the paint come playoff time. Its not like folks nor the heat expecting the guy to put up double/doubles... He could at the very least just clog the lane and prevent easy rebounds/buckets and alter shots and he has done enough for the heat.

Even if he does nothing but draw fouls etc...come playoffs he has contributed. Its not like what is needed from lets say Bynum and the cavs. The heat could put literally any 6'10+ solid body out there, its just he was the only one available and he come dirt cheap.

I'm honestly not sure what's the point of your post.

I never said anyone expects double doubles outta him, but dude ain't played 3 whole years and the last season he played he only appeared in about 20 games. That's an ungodly amount of time for an athlete to not compete in any sport.

To expect anything at all from a someone who hasn't played in so long is wild imo, I just figured its normal to have a wait and see approach that's all.

You're drunk.

Good luck with Melo sitting around for 3 years to wait for that opportunity

Bringing up that VC missed dunk always reminds me of the Kidd to Bron one. That pass was straight filthy :x only if bron made sure damnit.

From what I understand, Mo was asking for $2-3M from Memphis and a multi yr deal (2 yrs with the 2nd year possibly being a player option). He also wanted 6th man type minutes.

you can throw that all out the window.

just say the name lebron and he will sign with the heat for 100 bucks and the chance to wash lebron car all season...

The last playoff game he played in was against OKC in 2012.

And he hit 6 threes.

I thought we were talking about Stackhouse for a second.

Stephen Jackson still has some gas in the tank. He needs to go to a contender...I'd like to see him on the Bulls or Thunder.
