See, that's the key thing right there. We don't know yet what they'll do in 2015. My assumption is they'll go all-in one of two ways: rebuilding or reloading.

If they go the tanking/rebuild route...then it's ****** because most their draft picks belong to other teams. This is what Ujiri is banking on.

If the Knicks decide to reload (aka what Miami did in 2010) they'll have the means to do it as long as they don't compromise their current situation. After this Bargnani deal, Raymond Felton's player option is the only thing preventing them from having the ENTIRE cap to play with in 2015.

To borrow KG's quote...anything is possible. Good or bad.
C'mon man....

More seriously though, it's rare and takes a lot of luck to build a contender out of free agency alone.  The Knicks just tried it and failed.  I think you need to stockpile some picks and get a true young star that you can build around coherently.  None of this piecemeal "we'll take what we can get" type stuff.

T Robb in Portland, hopefully dude can stick out there

Whats good with gortat tho? I heard dude wanted out, I wouldnt mind shipping him out in favor of Len, gotta make a make a run at juice too

I'm with you on all that and it's definitely the more tried-and-true approach but the Heat proved it could be done. That's the model Grunwald might be chasing after in a few years. Obviously good luck needs to be involved (something this franchise knows nothing about) but you also have to position yourself to have that opportunity. And that's what they're doing now.

Knicks had plenty of cap space in 2010. Nothing on this level though. It's a clean slate. The ability to literally start from scratch in one summer.

If they strike out on FA's again...it's complete failure considering they won't get rewarded through the draft for being bad. But all it takes is one or two dominoes to fall.

Like I said..."all in". We just don't know yet what direction that's in.

Despite the reports, trading away Robinson's contract still doesn't give the Rockets enough room to offer the max (4 years-$88 million) but it's close enough.

Houston is confident entering the meeting with Dwight Howard tonight. They think they'll land him. One source described Rockets as "cocky."

Yea but Prince isnt worthless...

i thought he was a good fit for the Grizz, whats the issue?

No reason for Memphis to put out a starting lineup of Tony Allen and Tayshaun Prince ever again. Need someone capable of stretching the floor and just better overall shooters from the perimeter. As much as the offense improved without Rudy, the offense became way too predictable with Prince because he was too scared to shoot the ball. Factor in that he's owed $15M over the next two years :x

Lin = backup PG at best, terrible contract, disappears (literally) in playoffs

Yea, why wouldnt they want to keep Lin?
