Even if he pans out and becomes more efficient, I'll never "like" the pick because Drummond seemed like such a no-brainer. Pair your future all-elite PG with the next great big man prospect? I make that choice every day of the week. Of course, the Cavs weren't the only team to miss on Drummond, but he would have been perfect there.

Plus I thought the Cavs should have nabbed Jonas the year prior. He's poised to breakout this year, while Thompson is learning how to shoot with his other hand.

When was Drummond ever considered a no brainer? Most mocks had him in the 5-8 range from what I remember with concerns with work ethic

Literally every mock draft and Draft reports of that year had Waiters as a better pick than Drummond.....except for Big J.

Dion Waiters will no doubt prove haters wrong this year. I can see him putting up 16ppg, 5rpg, 5apg. His work ethic is crazy. He's nowhere near undersized . Average height for a 2-guard in the NBA is 6'4-6'7. I hope to God this ***** Waiters goes on a tear this year. Dude obviously has a lot to prove to some of you.

And that term "combo-guard" is so redundant. Nearly every great 2-guard in the league right now can play the point. It's a new game. The same way PF is used as a C. It's the choice of coaching that gives that impression..

"Out of respect" the hell ya think Brandon Roy is?

Don't get me wrong, I was a huge fan of B-Roy; but the dude made no significant long-term impact in this league. And those are the people that's jersey number shouldn't be worn again....not someone like B-Roy...and apparently, the Blazers organization agree.

THIS

Out of respect Mo should choose a different number
respect for what? Roy had a couple good seasons, but hes no HOF player. Sucks his career ended like that, but that doesn't equal respect. Mo Gotti got the # and will do good.

PS Anybody looking at this NBA TV playoff playback 2008 Cavs vs Boston? Look at Lebron's teamates.......only 6 of them dudes still in the league

"Out of respect"?

In that case, no Blazer should ever wear the #44 either :smh: :smh:

Who the **** cares if they could have picked Drummond? He wasn't a sure thing at that point or there's no way in hell he would have dropped all the way to Detroit at 9. Quality shooting guards might be even more rare than quality starting centers at this point, and Waiters I think will be a real good one to have. 16, 5 and 5 definitely seems reasonable for him this year after he averaged 15, 3 and 3 his rookie year.

The Cavs also have one of, if not the best, front court rotations in the league IF HEALTHY with Bynum, Varejao, Zeller, Bennett and Thompson. That group is going to cause teams allllllllll kinds of trouble if and when they make the playoffs.

No playoffs for them bro....

They were "combo guards" in college but they were drafted to play PG in the league.

Waiters doesn't have PG skills. He's a 6'4 ball dominant volume scorer (and they already had a ball-dominant volume scorer on the team). He's smallish and doesn't really defend. It just wasn't a good pick at #4.

In the long run I think Waiters is going to end up being a sixth man-type guy. Like a spark scorer off the bench who will score some points and probably give up some points on the other end. But again, you don't take that kind of player with the 4th pick in a solid draft.

And who would that be because Irving is no volume scorer. Ellis is a volume scorer, Brandon Jennings is a volume scorer, Nick Young is a volume scorer.....

Irving is not.

And I hate this undersize comment. The 3 dominate SG in the league are Kobe(6'6), Harden(6'5), and Wade(6'4)

Only 1 of them is 6'6. In terms of scoring as a 6'4, its not as big of a deal as some of you make it seem. The top defensive SG are 6'1 and 6'4 respectfully. Stop making so much out of the size and just measure based on the actual basketball skills
Irving took 18 FGA per game. Only Westbrook, Kobe, and Melo averaged more FGA. Volume scorer doesn't mean 'chucker' it means exactly what it says, a player who scores in volume. Irving has the ball a lot in CLE's system (4th in usage) and adding a ball-dominant wing doesn't complement his game.

From a team building perspective, Cavs are gonna wish they took Barnes (athletic defensive F) or Drummond (beastly defense + rebounding C) instead and just added a vet wing defender/shooter at SG.

They gonna regret taking Thompson and Anthony......... Just insane

Stop speaking. With your illiterate *** user name. The **** does that even mean?

What?

That new Blake commercial for JB is great :pimp:

He ain't going to ever leave LA, he's eating well off the court out there

If Roy signs with another team as a benchwarmer and gets into a blowout game, out of respect the other team should let him score a bucket :rolleyes

This happens in sports all the time though.... They tried to feed Drew Brees the yardage record out of respect.

Mean Street 71 vs Boo Williams 68 - Derrick Rose 24pts 7asts, Eric Gordon 17pts - Eric Davis 14pts -…

It happens in female sports quite often. It makes for cute 10 minute segments on Sportscenter and Outside the Lines but to me it's against the spirit of sport. I'm trying to remember who the female basketball player was who had a broken leg and the other team let her start, limp her *** under the basket and score real quick to break some type of record. It was one of the pretty ones lol. And furthermore, if he is unable to really play teams should stop signing him. I wouldn't fault him though, free money

Serious questions. What do you guys see Drummond being if he lives up to his full potential? You guys are making it seem like he has some ungodly potential and will go down as one of the best centers in recent memory. This is all based on his physicals and per 36 stats. IMO, he turns out to be a good center. Something like 14 & 12 and a few blocks a game with solid D in his prime.

Dwight Howard? All the signs are there for him to dominate defensively while making his presence known on offense through athleticism and activity.

That would be much better for cLeveLand than Waiters seeing as how their center position was a glaring hole for the future and may still be depending on Bynum's and Varejao's health. Andre Drummond is a giant and can sleep walk and pull down a double double. And he's only getting better.

But I'm not in the crowd that Waiters is a bad bball player or a net negative when he's on the court. He's not undersized and he's not a combo. Maybe if he was 6'2" 180 but Dion Waiters is 6'4" 225.

He has some handle and ran point in verrrrrry short stints. But he's a 2. He was inefficient and poor defender last year, but these are things that can improve. Especially with above average athleticism.
