I see Drummonds ceiling as Dwight in Orlando, dominant rebounder and defensive presence. He's even more athletic IMO as I've seen him get rebounds and take it coast to coast which is rare. He's good man to man and off the ball already, great defensive instincts. His offensive game is really raw but at the same time he's so young that if he puts in the proper work he could very effecient by age 23-24.

I don't think you guys understand how far more advanced on both ends dwight was at the same stage. Keep getting caught up in Big man potential without serious production to back it up. You'll be sorely disappointed. Deandre Jordan as much as he's maligned in here, had and still has immense potential... And he's an 9 & 8 guy that's still raw.

\
But I'm not in the crowd that Waiters is a bad bball player or a net negative when he's on the court. He's not undersized and he's not a combo. Maybe if he was 6'2" 180 but Dion Waiters is 6'4" 225.

He has some handle and ran point in verrrrrry short stints. But he's a 2. He was inefficient and poor defender last year, but these are things that can improve. Especially with above average athleticism.

Jeez I had no idea he was seen as THAT good. Hope his development isn't stunted by the rest of that team. What about Monroe- do they have to trade him?

For Monroe, I think a lot will depend on how he progresses, specifically his jumper and defense. He'll be asking for the max soon :smile:lol) and if the Pistons don't want to give him that, they can get a lot back for him. And they have Josh Smith as leverage to play PF too.

Um, Drummond has better numbers than Dwight had at 19. More rebounds blocks and steals and same amount of points per 36, you might wanna do the knowledge next time

Buc Em seems to despise any John Wall-led team. Without stirring controversy, you hyping Cleveland wants me to see Washington finish better that much more.

DeAndre is Drummond's absolute floor. Dwight being his ceiling.

Yeah, I don't really get that either. You guys criticize Dwight's skill level even now. When he was a teenager he was raw too, he was not "far more advanced" than Drummond is now.

Even if he pans out and becomes more efficient, I'll never "like" the pick because Drummond seemed like such a no-brainer. Pair your future all-elite PG with the next great big man prospect? I make that choice every day of the week. Of course, the Cavs weren't the only team to miss on Drummond, but he would have been perfect there.

Plus I thought the Cavs should have nabbed Jonas the year prior. He's poised to breakout this year, while Thompson is learning how to shoot with his other hand.

When was Drummond ever considered a no brainer? Most mocks had him in the 5-8 range from what I remember with concerns with work ethic

Literally every mock draft and Draft reports of that year had Waiters as a better pick than Drummond.....except for Big J.

Dion Waiters will no doubt prove haters wrong this year. I can see him putting up 16ppg, 5rpg, 5apg. His work ethic is crazy. He's nowhere near undersized . Average height for a 2-guard in the NBA is 6'4-6'7. I hope to God this ***** Waiters goes on a tear this year. Dude obviously has a lot to prove to some of you.

And that term "combo-guard" is so redundant. Nearly every great 2-guard in the league right now can play the point. It's a new game. The same way PF is used as a C. It's the choice of coaching that gives that impression..

You're right, it must be my Cleveland hate bias.

Ahead of Waiters
But in an updated one, Waiters did jump ahead

Drummond over Waiters

The lottery results are in and the New Orleans Hornets are the big winners of this year's draft lottery. That means it's time for Mock Draft 5.0.

At this point very little is set in stone, so expect our mock draft to fluctuate greatly over the course of the next four weeks. The Chicago NBA predraft combine, the adidas Eurocamp and hundreds of team workouts will dramatically alter the face of the draft.

But here's our best stab for now, after talking to numerous NBA team sources, on how the draft might play out on June 28.

What a huge win for the Hornets. They lost a superstar this year (Chris Paul) and then replace him with Davis. Pair him with Eric Gordon and New Orleans has a very strong foundation to build upon.

This is a major blow for the Bobcats. Kidd-Gilchrist is the second-best player in this draft and will add toughness and leadership. Michael Jordan wants winners and Kidd-Gilchrist is a winner.

Beal is a great get for the Wizards. The team could really use a dominant 2-guard to pair with John Wall. Beal is a very good fit who should be able to step in and contribute right away.

Analysis:
The Raptors are filled with a roster of mostly soft jump shooters. What they really need is a tough player who can get to the basket and get his own shot at the end of games. They need a true scorer. DeMar DeRozan might get there someday, but Waiters is there right now. The fact that Waiters can also play some point guard is a bonus. He could go anywhere from No. 6 to No. 15 on draft night.

What Drummond does in limited minutes + his physical size and abilities + some optimism that he continues to develop = The "hype" around him.

A freak center who can influence both ends of the floor and be a force in the NBA.

Ceiling? All-Star and elite center. Worst case? He's a defensive presence and gets you a double-double in his sleep.

No he didnt and per 36 is extremely overrated in the NBA. Dwight averaged 12ppg, 10rpg and 1.7 blocks. Drummond averaged 7.9ppg, 7.6rpg and 1.6 bpg. Dwight even shot FTs better if you can believe it or not. I know Drummond has a really high ceiling of potential, but honestly I'm not seeing it yet. I think we can better judge him by the end of this year, but people seem to over hype the hell out of this guy.
