lakers getting black jersey's this season :nthat:

good read on rashad mccants... i've always been a fan of his since he was at unc. i thought he had potential to be a solid player off the bench in the league & he showed some flashes, but his attitude seemed to end up doing him in :\

AI officially retiring :frown: he's always been one of my favorite players. when he was in his prime, it was such a treat to watch... he always played with such heart. what he was able to do at his height :wow: :smh:

his HOF speech is going to be special... can't wait for that.

I've watched A.I. since his GT days, I know what I'm talking about but w.e
So if I've been watching him since his hs days would my argument hold more weight?

laugh.gif
you see how dumb that statement was?
I watched him play football in hs.... so ya.......

My aunt lived across the street from a guy who once saw AI at McDonald's in Milwaukee.

Chess not Checkers.

For all of the flack that Lin receives, he wasn't that bad last year, especially considering he was playing out of position the entire year. Lin thrives on being able to be Steve Nash like, and he couldn't do that with Harden. That being said, 13 and 6 is very respectable, considering the circumstances that engulfed him and arguably, hindered his success to a degree.
lol outside of his flash in the pan week as a knick..(and that is even arguable) dude hasn't thrived at anything... well maybe building hype troll status... And dude isn't nowhere a Steve Nash type...unless you mean both such on defense. I mean if he was some reservist etc... his numbers wouldn't be too too bad... but the fact he was a STARTING PG.... its horrible. Dudes get on Mario and say hey doesn't put up numbers etc... But look who is playing with. Hell even an elite pg numbers would drop playing on the heat... Outside of Harden... Houston pretty much had decent complimentary/role players, so his numbers should have been better.

Steve Nash like as in being able to handle the ball most of the time and create for others. He wasn't saying anything about being as good as Steve Nash at it.

13 and 6 as the team's secondary ball handler is lousy now, ok.

Exactly. Since when is 13 and 6 bad from your pg who didn't even have the ball in his hands

Exactly. My point. I wasn't saying he was as good as Steve Nash, what I was saying was that they both thrive on being able to have the ball in their hands the whole time during the shot clock, using multiple screen and rolls, and having long leashes due to their impending high turnover rate.

The Rockets didn't sign for that amount of money so he could avg 13 and 6 with a team full of scrubs

They signed him before they knew they were going to get Harden. Had they known they were going to get Harden from the outset, they probably wouldn't have paid Lin that much money, or they wouldn't have pursued him at all.

But still..

Just imagine how horrible his numbers would be without James Harden. James Harden kinda save Lin..

Albeit in an extremely small sample size, Jeremy Lin was awesome when It was just him on the floor and Harden wasn't. Would they have won more? Probably not, however he was much better when it was just him doing the ball handling as oppose to Harden.

They signed him to be a decent PG before they knew they'd have Harden (who handles the ball a lot) like shoeking said.

But they also signed him from a purely marketing standpoint. I don't wanna over-generalize, but they wanted to capture the Asian, Asian-American audience. The same audience who nearly voted Shane Battier into the All-Star Game just because he was Yao's teammate.

Lin sucked for decent stretches of the year and people who didn't watch basketball still buzzed about him. He could've sucked completely (or actually did) but still made the Rockets some $$$. The Rockets basically went the attention whoring route, which now that I think about it, works for some of their additions this year...

He had lots of opportunity to show his worth last season and he was just meh. Anytime Harden didn't have the ball, Lin did.

Nothing wrong with being meh though. It wasn't a gross overpay, probably got a few more million then he deserved. He's around the same as a player like Dragic. Just average but can light it up every once in a while.

People always say this and every time it's always overstated & overplayed. The Rockets don't make more money off of Lin than they made off of Yao. Yea a few more people may watch the team but he doesn't affect their bottom line in terms of making money.
