To be fair to Doc Rivers though, he only had 2 true superstars to work with before '08. T-Mac and a bunch of nobody's, then Pierce with a bunch of nobody's until they made the trade. What would any other coach do? I never put him THAT high, but a solid coach? Yes.  VDN on the other hand....he needs to spend more time as assistant. He's good up to a point.

Show me a coach that has won anything of note without great players. Basketball depends on individual players more than any other team sport

True story.

Agreed, the true test of the quality of a coach is what he does with supreme talent around him. He did good with the Celtics and now this will be his second test. In a stronger conference with of what I believe to be equal talent or close to his last one(Come at me bro)

In the end Doc will be fine. With all the names on that roster, they really need someone who's decisions will be respected. Doc is that guy.

VDN was different because he felt the pressure from having other proven guys in his stash. So if the Clips were losing or something wasn't working, it was on him to fix his rotation and find the player that would work, simply because he was Vinny Del Negro. (To his credit he stuck to his love of Willie Green till the end). With Doc I think people - media and players - will be more trusting with his gameplan.

Doc will be fine. This is the most talent he's ever had from the beginning with any team and I agree with Antidope, it will be a test of his X's and O's ability. That being said, I expect CP3 to be a real potential MVP candidate.

this. never understood all the love doc rivers got. dude was a perennial loser until the big 3/rondo's emergence.

I agree that Doc is probably overrated as a coach, but perennial loser is an overstatement. His got his Orlando teams into the playoffs and his teams in Boston before the big 3 showed up just weren't that good. He's a good coach. But he's not on the Pop Phil level, which some people act like.
couldnt you say the same thing about pop and phil? saying they had mike and pip... duncan, parker and manu... im not trying to get into a debate about who are great coaches and what not... but there are different types right? players coach, system coach, x's and o's coach?

What someone said last page was 100% on point.

Coaches are only as good as their records say they are unfortunately, and that is especially true in the NBA. In the NBA, players win games, as oppose to college. In College, coaches have a far bigger emphasis on the outcome of games, in the NBA not so much.

I say that to say, as people alluded to in here, Doc hasn't had the best of talent. When he's had talent to coach, his teams always have responded well and have had nothing but great things to say about him. I have high expectations for the Clips this year, and see them actually coming out of the West this year. They have all of the pieces to do so, and have a very competent coach to take them there.

Excited to see what they'll do this year.

Top 3 NBA scorers

1.MJ

2. Shaq

3. Mcgrady

The swoosh has brainwash all of you it's completely acceptable to have Wilt, Russel or Magic as a top 3.

Russell was overrated. what he avg 10 and 12 against players that are 6'2 and under?

Wilt was trash, he had to take 40 shots to score 50 and he's 7'1. He was a loser most of his career, didn't start winning til he joined the Lakers.

Agree with the article. Rivers is overrated by many. He was on his way out in Boston until the Big Three saved his career.

The stuff said in this thread  :smh:

I agree Doc is overrated a bit. But I do think he does a great job getting buckets out of time outs. Granted he did have Ray Ray but some of those plays out of a TO were amazing.

Any coach can coach a talented team to the playoffs, only a few can win rings with that team. It's like car racing, you need the car and the driver to win it all

not trying to turn this into a heat thing, so does spo get credit?

I like the Tony Wroten pickup for us for a future second rounder. I don't even know who else is on our bench at this point besides Kwame and Arnett Moultrie so he should definitely see some PT.

Not only that, the gap between his star and the next player for both Orlando and Boston in the beginning was so disparate, they might as well have been expansion teams. It's a shame that in Orlando, Grant Hill could never give them more than 30 games a season in his time there. Had he been 100% it would have been a different story.

Warriors are going to sign Seth Curry. That Curry to Curry connection :pimp:.

He won't get to wear 30 though.... I wanted the Spurs to sign him after he worked out for them.. Oh well.

The real Splash Brothers :pimp:

Don't try and kill my dreams please. Thank you.

Idk why the Lakers are putting out teasers like we don't already know what the jersey looks like. That's Giving the royal blue one a run for its money as the best Laker jersey ever though

Seth Curry can for sure play in the NBA. The Warriors are pretty loaded at the 2/3 though...we'll see if they end up having any room.

if your refering to the fake jerseys thats been out for years, the team probably got the idea from that. actually, if it looks the exact same im willing to bet they did.
