Lamar Odom has been deep into crack cocaine for at least 2 years ... TMZ has learned. 

TMZ broke the story ... Lamar has gone off the rails with drug use ... which is the principal cause of the crisis in his marriage to Khloe Kardashian.  As we reported Lamar went to a rehab facility a year ago this month and stayed for 3 weeks before bailing -- and we're told the problem was crack.

Sources say Lamar's crack use was extreme before he went to rehab, but he cleaned up his act during the basketball season that just ended.  Sources say shortly after he hung up his jersey, he started again with a bang.

As we reported ... Khloe threw Lamar out of the house a few days ago after he rejected an attempt at an intervention.

It's unclear how Lamar's problem will affect his basketball career.

We made calls to Lamar's reps.  So far, no comment.

Lamar ain't on crack, he definitely strikes me as a lean/trees/terrible diet type though, son been addicted to sweets for years. If he was on crack he wouldn't be fat anytime he's not playing basketball and sometimes even when he is.

He goofed by getting involved with that family, career been downhill ever since. He was perfect on the Lakers during his stint there. Praying Ye' don't end up the same way, the boy Humphries skated with the money and is chilling

Dude seems emotionally fragile. That family may have helped drive him crazy. I'm not buying any of that 'khloe is so real' crap. I still feel like she forced the issue of marriage because she wanted to run it inhersisters fafaces, mainly because she has always been known as the undesirable one. She was thrilled to marry a laker and rub the ring in everyone's face.
