none of those players caused himto shoot like **** half ways through his career...

guy was the epitome of a terrible chucker

id love to see the total average fg percentage of tmac starting with his last season with the magic onward
LOL your funny. Mac took smarter shots than any other SG including Kobe. What I liked about that article is how Bll pointed out the "WTF era" of NBA teams with 1 star and a bunch of borderline d league level of teamates. I mean straight up bums were starters on teams in the 00s. Ray, Lebron,Vince, KG, Mac, A.I, Pierce, all suffered from the WTF era. Glad the younger guys are seeing that the only way to win is to join each other. Good basketball is always team basketball.
True, the NBA has become more competitive. Eric Snow can't be a starter in the modern NBA.

Well the PG position is just more thorough right now. The SG/PF positions are weak right now. A non-PG version of Eric Snow today could be someone like Brandon Bass or Bismak Biyombo. Each era has stretches in which certain positions are weak. There are a LOT of WTF Starters in todays NBA as well. Early 2000s are no different. So I disagree with Bill Simmons there

so i assume simmons is good with doc now? :nerd:

I like how Simmons drops in "so I texted Kobe" "So I called Doc"

This isn't the Sports Guy anymore. :smh:

Ton of what ifs in Tracy's career, I wonder if he thought Duncan was joining Orlando tho. If he'd have known it was just Hill, maybe he would have stayed with Vince a little longer.
Or maybe he should have embraced Dwight rather than wanting out.

^^^I completely forgot Mike Miller was on the Magic. I don't have any memory of him before Memphis.

He mentioned on a podcast that he had a convo with Doc on the phone shortly after the incident during the draft. Wilbon is friends with both of them and he set it up.
Waltah is an assistant under Brad Stevens.
Was he one under Doc too or is this his first stint?

I used the C's a lot on Live in the early 2000's. Waltah was my top 6th man

He was just hired a couple weeks ago.

Yeah, the difference is more pronounced in the PG position for sure. But I know there were players in other positions too at the time that wouldn't even make it onto the floor nowadays on most teams, like the players that the Nets and Sixers matched up against Shaq. SMH. Albino Aaron Williams, Todd Maculloch? The Collins brothers, Tony Battie, etc. These were starters on the "elite" teams.
Bonus: Popeye Jones, Adonal Foyle, Michael Doleac, Ira Newble, Brian Skinner, DeSagana Diop, all starters at some point in the early '00s

I think he would've still left because at that time, Grant Hill was one of the top, if not, THE top perimeter player. Vince was a young rising star but Grant was already established as THAT dude. It's just nobody knew he was done after those ankle injuries in Detroit.

I "thought" tho that they wanted to show as a Big 3. Weren't they all Adidas guys? Oh wait, no, Grant was Fila huh?

I just thought I remember the rumors back then, pre social media and all that, but like radio shows and what not where everyone was saying Grant, Tim, and Tracy, T-Mac bein the third wheel that became the only real thing ORLD got. Grant was already hurt, they all just figured he would get healthy.

And I know I remember they were on Tim's door at 12:01, and he leaned, but in the end decided to stay. Wonder how close he actually came.

tmac was gone. he was coming back home to florida where he was familiar with, though, he did flirt with the idea of chicago briefly.
hill and duncan had the same agents and from what i recall were pretty close and respected one another. the magic had a legitimate shot at landing him, but popp convinced him to stay and the rest is history.
who remember the "grant us tim" firework show they put on for them?

Was it as bad as benny the bull at the airport? :x

If TMac stayed in Toronto, does any thimk he and Vince could have led the Raptors to the championship in any season between 2001 and 2005?

What's crazy, is that after four straight NBA Finals appearances (three of them MVP seasons), he still put up 30/9/6 in 1988, on 50/40/90 shooting :x

OH for sure, that woudl've been the original Big 3. They were definitely trying to go after all 3. However, Timmy decided to stay but once Grant signed, Tmac signed. I think even before any of those guys signed, I remember Eddie Jones being in the mix as well. Duncan, Grant, Tmac and Eddie were the top FAs if i remember correctly.
