Penny was the reason why I actually liked basketball so much when I was younger.

Right when Jordan retired, I became the biggest Penny/Magic fan.

Same here but he doesn't deserve to be in the Hall. Sadly, he just didn't do enough or have a long and productive career.

The guy in your Avy is awful. Beasley is a 20 + 7 player each night when somebody puts him in check and has him motivted.

Well I know he's awful.

Beasley is just not good. I can't imagine he'll ruin team chemistry but tell me what else he's good at other than scoring? And he can't even do that well anymore.

LOL NBA better be scared. A Beasley with Vets around to mentor him is scary stuff......... this team just keeps getting scary

The mentor thing is overblown. They had the same vets that could've mentored him in 2010... but they still wanted to get rid of him anyway.

But the way their whole supporting cast is looking (i.e. the same dudes who barely woke up at the right times in the playoffs, plus Greg Oden), they need to take a chance on something that might pan out.

Haha dude will not get enough minutes to avg close to that. And if he was that kind of player he would of never been released

Magic wasn't yamming on people like Penny and couldn't shoot like penny.

False. He wasn't the athlete Penny was, but early in his career, Magic dunked on people regularly. And shooting? A toss-up, at best. Magic turned himself into a solid outside shooter over the course of his career. I'll check Google later, but I'd be willing to bet Magic has a better overall and 3 pt FG percentage than Penny.

Edit: Magic career FG % = .520, 3PT % .303; Penny career FG% = .458, 3PT % .316.

So, I was wrong about Magic having a higher 3PT %, but .303 v. .316 is pretty much a wash.

Also, Penny might be my favorite player of all time but to mention him and the HOF is absolutely absurd. His hey day was very short lived unfortunately.
He changed basketball culture though..... From his size playing PG to the shoes(even though they had more of an influence later after his career) to the commercials. The overall package of Penny changed Basketball for the better. When the guy was good.... he was good and there was no stopping him.
ok so this gets Magic Johnson in, what does Penny have to do with it?

I'd care to wager his arrest had more to do with him being released. You can't have a big seed in an environment where there is noclear cut veteran leadership while also attempting to build a new identity.

I'd love to see Beasley finally put it all together. If all else fails he just gets released

Beasley is washed up fellas, dude is seriously BURNT OUT :pimp: .. Not saying he won't show flashes of potential but he really need to lay off the bud. I highly doubt he will get a lot of minutes to redeem his career ..

I just dont see him getting any minutes besides garbage time and when spo is resting wade and/or lbj. They like to keep the floor spread for LBJ and D wade to drive. Hes not a good enough shooter to spread the floor. And he isnt close to the defensive player that battier and ray are.

Magic: .520 FG% .303 3P%

Penny: .458 FG% .316 3P%

The epitome of super team. They could and should go for 73 wins.

Battier, Haslem and Allen are on their last legs, so it's a worthwhile gamble by Riles and the Heat.

Heat might as well be the dream team in 2K

Beas back on South Beach playing with the second unit :pimp:

SMH

Jesus Christ.

This is the first time in the Big 3 era that they have a threat off the bench who can get his own bucket at any time. They could seriously sit Lebron and Wade for long stretches and have Beas eat if his head's on right. Keeping them legs fresh for the playoffs.
