What about Dirk-Marion-Dwight? :pimp:

:frown:

 but this, in a nutshell is why I've always felt like Dallas had NO shot in landing Dwight, or any "Superstar" for that matter. I just don't see any star wanting to go play there, especially with the lack of pieces they have there. Nothing attractive about going to play for the Dallas Mavericks IMO.

They're in an awkward state looking to find their next cornerstone to the franchise.

The pitch to Dwight has to be this though:

-Be the guy, defer to no one.
-Play alongside an all-time great PF.
-Choose to help recruit whoever you want with Dirk taking a paycut.
-Tell us whoever you want to play with this year as long as they're cheap.
-Build your own legacy, not piggybacking on the coattails of others trying to live up to their standards.

Not saying its the best opportunity, but its what the Mavericks are displaying.

for all the hate on Dwight, Kobe did a lot of the same **** when he was a free agent. asking the clippers to play at the arrowhead pond because it was closer to his house and he could avoid traffic I think they actually considered it too . these guys just need their ego stroked and want to see how desperate teams are to have them. kobe definitely had no intention of leaving (they just got rid of shaq which was all he wanted) and I doubt if dwight does either

You act as if it's silly that they would move to the Pond to appease him. They'd have Herandezed folks to sign him.

Dwight will have less drama in Houston and also a considerable decrease in pressure.

With his female tendencies who knows what he's thinking, 100% the type to listen to everyone's opinion to develop his own. I don't know with this generation of players "in their prime" anymore though. They're too busy trying to take shortcuts to the top contrary to just working on their own games on a year round basis and enjoying the fruits of their labor.
Personally i rather have Harden-Parsons-Dwight than Curry-Klay-Dwight.

If you go to the Rockets you dont lose any significant pieces.

-Play alongside an all-time great PF. ooooook, slow your roll...
-Choose to help recruit whoever you want with Dirk taking a paycut. can yall get him a role as the Mega Zord, Ryan Goslin, and the creatures on Sesame Street?
-Tell us whoever you want to play with this year as long as they're cheap. aka 'hey D, we have no cap space... sorry brah'

Very strong organization. Great owner.

Dirk would defer to Dwight. Harden wouldn't. Kobe wouldn't.

And I was talking about pursuing whoever he wants NEXT year.

Why is he not swagged out in his two shooter sleeves, undershirt, and headband?

What superstar in their right minds is deferring to someone they can't run the offense thru ?

Sure he's a defensive/rebounding machine but offensively he's a cleanup/putback dude point blank , dumping the ball to Dwight in the post 10-20 times wont lead to chips IMO.. Until he becomes a consistent post scorer and passer out of double teams it makes little sense for him to be a 1st option.

“@PeterVecsey1: From what I'm told, should Howard decide on GST, & LA is unwilling 2 sign-trade, it has teams willing 2 assume salaries of AB, Biedrins & RJ”

If they do we should all be EXTREMELY surprised..

Teams often float rumors to gain leverage (See Boston/Clippers)

Well of the options presented ahead of him, there are two points of interest.

Having Dirk help guide his post game. Having someone to teach you actually in the game may do the trick.

Having McHale, a great PF in his day, as his HC may be the golden ticket to Dwight's success. But, the jury is still out whether he's a good coach or not.

Of the teams still in the race, is it fair to rank them this way?

Best roster: Houston > Golden State> Los Angeles> Dallas > Atlanta

Best Coach: Dallas > Houston = Golden State = Atlanta > Los Angeles

Best management: Dallas > Houston > Los Angeles > Golden State > Atlanta

Legacy: Los Angeles> Houston> Dallas = Golden State > Atlanta
