Monta is probably already on the decline though, entering his 10th year. It isn't a fair fight between he and Steph, who is not even scratching the surface yet. Steph is going to be on National teams, All-star teams and All-NBA teams. Monta's never had any of those distinctions and his best days are already behind him. Monta had a nice little run but Steph already a much more valuable player than he is.
Steph is already a more well-rounded guard offensively. They're both not much defensively. The IQ is probably what stands out the most though between the two.
No way are they equals.
I hear you. Hell, if you go back to Niketalk archives, I even said Steph is the MAN even BACK then because I knew this. I knew he had more potential. His ceiling was higher due to his PG ability. Which is why even back then, people were willing to trade Monta instead of Steph. HOWEVER, what I think everyone is basing right now off us IS potential and of course the fact that Steph had an AMAZING year compared to Monta who was stuck in the hell hole known as the Bucks this year.
I do disagree about the IQ thing though. Steph still does some CRAZY stupid passes still, especially that one handed LEFT hand across the court pass that IRKS the hell outta me.
I also disagree though that Monta is on the decline. I think it's too early to count him out. Dude is still young and i feel in Dallas will have a better system behind him. Obviously, this year will be THE year that determines it for me so like I said earlier, if I'm wrong, then I was wrong.
EDIT: You brought up GREAT points though. Props to you.
