I'm with whoever said this will be the best possible place for Marshon.  He couldn't get off the bench in BK, and everyone on Boston is scared to shoot the ball.  He'll fit in fine.

Marshon plays in slow motion, he makes pierce look quick, i honestly dont see him in boston after next season, plus courtney lee, avery and crawford>>>brooks

MarShon should honestly be ecstatic. A LOT of picks that are 20 and later have not survived as long as he has thus far in the league. Yeah, it's dumb when LeBron and Dwight use that logic because they're held on a different standard. This is MarShon Brooks from Providence.

 Ya'll are looking too much into a picture. Marshon is definitely happy now that he's not going to be stuck on the bench + he's playing in New England again.

I don't really think it is a good take.  Because it completely misses the point of what it means to be "the man" on a winning team.  First off, I totally agree that it's not 100% Dwight will be the man again, because he's had serious and effort issues the last two seasons.

However, the assertion that it takes a 25ppg shooting guard to be "the man" is ridiculous.  In his prime, Dwight completely changed the game for his team through his defense and rebounding.  It's unlikely Harden will ever have that level of impact on a team through scoring alone.  Harden's an awesome player and has superstar potential, but averaging 25ppg does NOT make you "the man".  What Dwight did for his team in Orlando very much made him "the man" even though he wasn't the primary ballhandler or playmaker on offense.

Not to throw shots, but as a Laker fan I think you've been watching Kobe too long if you think pure volume scoring is the only thing that can make a player the centerpiece of a great team.
but look at most of the championship teams in the last 20 years.  most of the #1 guys could and would put up 40 on you in a playoff game...usually were the leading scorers and go to guys in the 4th.

Well, Tim Duncan has a career average of 20ppg.  He wasn't really that type of player.  KG was probably the best player on the Celtics team that won, and he wasn't that type of player.  Pistons leader was Billups, who wasn't that type of player.  All those guys drove their teams to victory by impacting the games tremendously in every facet, not just pure scoring.

Billups maybe a stretch since there wasn't a clear "the man" on that team.

IMHO, its not even the scoring. harden is the face of that team. 'the beard' has been the guy for the rockets since he came on board. even with the dwight signing it seemed like they were building around harden and not the other way around. i dont see dwight's goofy self taking over as team leader. defensive anchor, sure. but when crunch time rolls around, who do you want to lean on? not dwight, thats for damn sure.

of course, he could develop his post game and grow up some more, then we can talk.

I think Harden has a long way to go before he becomes a true franchise player.  He has great potential but doesn't have a complete game right now.  Not necessarily disagreeing with what you wrote, but he hasn't learnt to impact in all facets.

A long way to go? Disagree. I think he's close. I would have never thought this would be the case but he showed a lot last year. Depends on your definition of true franchise player though. Which players fall under this category to you?

All Harden has to do is improve his defense and he's easily the best SG in the league now that Kobe is getting old.

He can shoot the 3, is a savant in the pick and roll, good court vision and is historically good at drawing fouls. He needs to stop the pull up 3's but he's the truth.

Long way wasn't really what I meant.  Just meant that he isn't there yet, misspoke.

Right now I would say,

These guys have proven they can be franchise players on winning teams, and aren't washed up yet:

Chris Paul

Kobe

Rose

LeBron

Wade

Dirk

Durant

Tim Duncan

Tony Parker

Dwight- if you can forget about last year and he can come back the same.

These guys are expected to get there- we'll see:

Kevin Love

Blake (I'm not personally too hot on his prospects)

Harden

Curry

Paul George

Kyrie

These guys had it once but are way past it:

KG

Pierce (maybe he was never at that level, I'm not sure)

Nash

These guys once looked like they could eventually have it, but it's not looking good:

Deron Williams

Melo

I'm sure I'm missing people, that's just how I generally feel.

No Wallace gets traded, past his prime and a terrible contract

Amnesty waiting to happen
Cant be amnestied for several reasons.

Ppl should just forget about the amnesty at this point. Only a few contracts are eligible and worthy of it since the new cba.
John Wall will get the max, right.

MarShon can be JR-lite.

Does JR get a pass for his shooting performance in the playoffs?
Marshon couldn't be that in his dreams on this Celts team. I do feel sorry for him but he really ain't that good.

No pass for JR.

Add Westbrook to the expected

Ah, good lists give or take a few (Westbrook is up there, Wade aint it anymore, and I still don't see Paul George ever getting there)

Going to be one of the worst Laker teams ever next year it's going to be hilarious, Nick Young alone.

Oh yeah, RW belongs in the second category for sure. He's close to the first.

And Rondo isn't quite there, but he has the potential to shock a lot of people next year.

Where's Kevin Martin, Monta Ellis, and OJ Mayo???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

This looks nothing like Kaman, Aminu, & Gordon to the Hornets, they actually look happy

detroit had a good thing going... sure it was a real slow process, but they were headed in the right direction. they had some nice young players & could have built on that core with draft picks & other small, but key trades here & there. now they're throwing money at smith & jennings & if they add jennings to the team, that's less opportunities for drummond, knight, & monroe to continue to grow & develop. best case scenario, they turn out to be a consistent 1 round & out team for the next couple of years.

but  at marshon... i think boston is a great situation for him though. he's a player that has a real bright future if he's in the right situation to develop & have freedom to make mistakes, but learn from them. he has an offensive game that can get going in a hurry & he can light it up quick. he can also go cold quickly for long stretches, but in boston i feel like that's something he will be given the opportunity to work through given their rebuilding stage. the biggest problem with him playing with the nets was that he wasn't given the freedom to play in his last season... he was always looking over his shoulder at the bench (when he actually did get in) & was taken out the second he made a mistake. however, when he was given time in his rookie year, he was a nice addition to the offense. i see him having a real bright future because he already has a talent for putting up points. now if he can do it consistently & add some defense to the mix, he'll be a good player for that rebuilding team.
