True, as much as I dislike Chalmers sometimes, he never shies away from big moments in the post season.

I would hope not.CosignI disagree with this especially the passing part, TP doesnt play in an offense where hes the only playmaker on the floor, at any given moment theres three of them on the floor so the passes can come from anyone. Its the best passing team in the league, whereas CP3 is the only playmaker on that team.Didnt Nate Robinson basically blackball himself out of ever playing for the Heat with some of his comments? I doubt they'll consider him after the disrespect.
I agree with most except cp3...I mean in this stage of his career...business wise obtaining cp3 over tp would be better as far as long term...but do to tp still being a top tier pg, spurs culture and loyalty ties they would never make that move....

You know how I know most of you haven't really watched much of Dwight's games? You guys keep bringing up how great him and Harden are gonna be in pick and rolls. Dwight Howard hates pick and rolls. He wants everybody to just stand on the perimeter and space out the floor so you can dump it down to him for a dunk or one of those chuck it at the rim hook shots. Ask any Laker or Magic fan.

That's probably the main reason he's still on the team. Mike miller is getting 6 mil when we all know he doesn't deserve that but he shows up in the playoffs too

Seriously though, somebody more capable needs to take Chalmers spot.

Man what? As the starting PG, the Heat have been to 3 straight finals, and have won back to back. Now why does he need his spot taken again  ? He's exactly what they need.

Oh and none of these guys are winning a ring anytime soon as long as Lebron is around. Sorry. Doesn't make them any less great though.

But didnt Kevin McChale said that hes going to be putting him in a lot of pick and roll which was why it even became a topic of conversation? Thats why I brought it up when the conversation originally started. I doubt Dwight Howard is really going to walk in there and make McChale throw his game plan out of the window.

In an interview with ESPN.com, McHale alluded to Howard’s potential as a pick-and-roll big man. “He can score 10 points and totally dominate the game,” McHale said. “There are very few players in the N.B.A. that can do that. He can bolt down the paint, block six or seven shots, get 20 rebounds, roll hard and get people shots without touching the ball.” McHale is right: defenses are so afraid of Howard’s catching the ball on the move to the rim that his cuts to the basket open up plays all over the court. Pair that threat with Harden, a top pick-and-roll scorer, and watch out. But it is hard to imagine that Howard will be happy with the role McHale described. Howard has expressed his desire to develop into a dominant post presence, though his body seems ill-equipped for the task.

When Steve Nash talked about Dwight Howard's reluctance to run the pick-and-roll with the Los Angeles Lakers, he highlighted a lost opportunity to do something special.

The eight-time All-Star spoke candidly on Tuesday about what he felt was a hesitancy on the big man's part to accept a role that was tailor-made for him.

"He didn't seem like he really wanted to do a pick-and-roll offense, Nash explained on ESPN LA 710 radio's "Mason and Ireland" show. "Maybe because he ran it in Orlando for so long and he wanted to get in the post more."

He often expressed that he wanted to work more in the post, and develop a more back to the basket style game.

The modern NBA is a pick-and-roll heavy league, where the traditional, back-to-the-basket center of yesteryear has gone the way of the typewriter. There's a new premium on athleticism and being able to stretch the floor (think of Sacramento Kings forward / center DeMarcus Cousins, the non-head case version, as the prototype).

The ironic thing about Howard being opposed to running that offense is that he had arguably the best pick-and-roll orchestrator in league history to feed him the ball.

So im saying dude does it most of his career, leaves to go to l.a. with a big man in kareem in hopes to work on and develop more back to the basket etc...and they basically said nah, you run it my way....And you wonder why he left? LOL

Was Dwight reluctant to run the pick and roll in Orlando as much as he was last year?

I always thought that he wanted to try and show that he was more than a pick and roll type center last year in order to prove Shaq and other critics wrong. Shaq has always said that he doesn't consider him a traditional big man since he doesn't have a post game. He always mentions that he's just like most of the present day centers that just score off of pick and rolls.

I din't see any problems with this because he was still pretty dominant running the pick and roll in Orlando, but we all know that he doesn't have that many post moves. And last year he wanted to get fed in the post like he was Hakeem or Shaq for some reason.

This

Either Houston goes Dwight's way and suddenly Harden and co. aren't playing to their strengths.

Or they play the way that made them semi-successful and Dwight is unhappy again.

Kareem said Dwight talked about wanting to work with him when he got to LA... then he never heard from Dwight again.

So he wants to play back-to-the-basket and try to dominate like Shaq, but he's not willing to put in the work to do it.

He's got a lackluster post game. We all know that. No coach is gonna build an entire offense around a lackluster post game. He wants to blame the coaches or the situation, but not the fact that he has limited moves down there. You can say they tried to "force" him into a PnR system, but you can also say they chose to run a PnR system because the alternative (to post up Dwight all the time) doesn't make too much sense, given his limited skills.

It's just a matter of how you (or Dwight's posse) spins it...

I saw this mentioned on Twitter, but what's with Shaq, Bynum, and D12 ALL not being able to co-exist to an extent w/ Kobe?

The difference in Houston imo....is while they will be working him pick and roll, they simultaneously will be working with him on his post game and slowly working it into his game, in the game...

Sounds like based on nash's interview, and kareems...they didn't care about him really developing and growing as a player RIGHT NOW, they just wanted him to play a style that would work for dantoni, and would overall help Kobe get a chip...and then worry about him growing/developing as a better player after Kobe retires and they in a rebuild mode.

And Dwight was probably like nah...im not gonna put me getting better as a overall player on hold, so Kobe can get his 6 ring etc.... and retire...then wait till on the decline, heading towards the end of my career and the team is in reload/rebuild mode to try to work on my game.

And that's why they mad, lakers fans mad lol...They wanted a dude to stunt his growth, just play and do w/e it would take to make the lakers and kobe get a chip before he is done so the lakers/kobe stans can be satisfied.
