I could be completely off base, but the "free for all" seemed to level the playing field so-to-speak.  I don't know very many people that can cop TLOs manually prior to captcha. But even the Bot can't solve captcha, I'd bet dollars to doughnuts, it's going to beat you to the captcha screen every time. Please don't miscontrue my comments that I like it better, because I don't, but for this particular day, it served its purpose weeding out autoscript and ATC.
I agree with you even though that was one of the worst releases so far it still did its job of countering bots and i see that a lot of people are questioning the countdown timer i believe they put it there to counter the "early link" users and level out the playing field when you think about it aside from the error after the countdown was done its just like waiting for the link to drop on twitter except theres a timer.

Nah they do care, to some degree, because they are at least trying to do something about it. If they didn't care, they wouldn't have added captcha and now this timer. That shows me they are trying to fight bots and early links. Obviously it isn't perfect yet but we'll see where it goes.

At the end of the day, yeah, it's money in their pocket, but I'm sure they realize that if enough people get fed up with a non-level playing field, they'll give up and move on to other things to spend their money on.

I get your point but to test it on the limited released shoe doesnt make sense to me.

So just wondering since these MIGHT get a restock. Will these launch at any other retailers and city Nike stores?

For those who picked up locally today at HoH's what's the production date on them? Usually the shorter dates (i.e. 1/20/x to 2/20/x) are for sure limited in quantity. 2 months or more usually means more were made. Correct me if I am wrong.

While it sucks, it may have been overalll more beneficial to the non-bot and ATC users. I agree it worked like crap, but element of surprise and to catch everyone off guard was overwhelminingly effective. Do it for a pair of Roshe Run's the week before and ATCs and Bot programers have time to find a solution. So, for every upset person, I'm sure there a sizeable amount of people who copped because the aformentioned were cut from the equation. After saying F it, this isn't working at all, I was fortunate I saw a tweet mentioning not to give up people are still checking out. I quickly added to cart and was lucky enough to get a pair.
The element of surprise shouldn't be the check that ensures a legitimate purchase. Rather it should be whatever it is that Nike is trying to implement, be it image captcha, timer, raffle system, etc. Get that **** right to level the playing field b/c I'm not interested in crowdsource testing new features on NDC unless they're going to put me on the payroll.
I don't disagree, the only thing I was saying was ATCs and such didn't get squat.
If they're going for element of surprise (which I HIGHLY doubt) then why have a release time? AND a countdown timer?

Why not just have a release time window, and drop at a random time during that window? They used to drop at a random time in the middle of the night, should go back to that.
I don't disagree with any of what you said. Like I said above, ATCs didn't get squat.  People with super advanced bots or ATC services, it doesn't matter what time they're released whether it's at 2 am or 12 pm. They search style codes, TLOs, and such, and scan all day if they wanted. I agree with everyone, it sucked, it didn't work well, you name it. But to the point, I don't know of any ATC that got anything. Do you guys? That said, more people not using bots or ATC got theirs, even though the release was a complete and utter fail.

I'm sure they wanted to debut this system on a shoe that they figured people wanted. And with the Carmines dropping tomorrow, and the unreal hype behind them, they probably figured this was the perfect time.

I'm guessing ATC's or bots didn't really work initially since Nike's system was at fault to begin with when sizes didn't pop up and people couldn't add to cart manually after the clock went down. By the way I have never used a BOT or ATC script/ext. All manual for me and I rarely miss out.

Good to know that NDC is not gonna use the countdown timer for any more releases.

Their PM should be fired. Not a smart idea to implement a new feature and then only have 24 hours to correct for a bigger release the following day. Should have been tested on the Magistas to give extra time to debug just in case.

Yeah, it sucked.  I thought it was a repeat of the Concord release; ultimately it was worse. Both releases I looked at the computer screen and no sizes showed. I kept pressing add to cart on my phone since sizes were visible, but of course absolutely nothing happened. From there, I came to NT to see if I was the only person encountering the same which obviously I wasn't. I had already given up, was just fortunate to see a tweet and from there they immediately added to cart.

BTW, nice avatar, that S is funny lol

Great. They just used it with the limited released shoe this week. Well nike doesnt care as long its $ in the pocket.
well, I guess we will see if nike uses the countdown clock tomorrow for the carmines...

if they do, then the average (without special connections) consumer is in trouble...

IMO I think the hype on these will die quickly. The 9 em line hasn't been that popular at all compared to the 8.

I love when there's no hype. Means I can get what I want and people kill each other over some ugly What the Lebron's or whatever else that's is "exclusive" and horrible; I can wear a pair of $35 Saucony Vegan Jazz Low Pros just as easily. I especially like going to store whenever I feel like it and and they're still there when I want; I hate getting up early ;-)

Hopefully someone lets go of a pair. I've been trying all day...
not srs
