any word on the release of techies?
Last I heard, sometime between hell freezing over and Dota 3 coming out.

The last thing I heard about an official release was that they wanted to get everyone else out first (Pit Lord, Winter Wyvern, Arc Warden, Oracle, Son Goku) and leave techies for last. We have to wait and see though. They are adding new techie stuff in this coming patch (like his portrait).

:D

If this doesnt put you in the mood to use witch doctor, or at least put you in a slightly good mood, then idk man.

^ I saw that earlier today, that is insane how badly they blew last year's prize pool out of the water. I'm wondering what valve is gonna do when if and when they run out of stretch goals to meet. maybe they'll add new ones, like release the techies at 10 mil or something.

techies shouldve been one of the stretch goals to begin with.. aka last years stretch goals of (the public choosing the next hero released). Valve is so smart though, implementing the point system with the compendium... making the prizepool increase twice as fast lol

What point system? The compendium levels? That's independent of the prize pool. It just seems like a lot more people want a compendium this year.

pretty sure it adds to the prize pool

You can purchase additional points to further increase your Compendium level.
25% of point sales goes to the overall prize pool.

yeah the community has definitely grown immensely since TI3..

im just saying this pretty gives more incentive for people to keep adding to the prize pool and get more rewards.

^ I forgot about that, mostly because I'm doin it the old fashioned way.
I cant wait to see how high the prize pool eventually goes. I dont think any other E-sport event will be able to match this prize pool for a good long time.

It would be interesting to see what Riot does after seeing this move from Valve though.

Did Riot do anything last year when Valve started the whole compendium business? I dont follow the LoL scene at all, so I don't know if they did or not.
It's gonna be interesting to see how companies other than Riot, Like Blizzard, etc... will react to this year's international. I'm curious to see how the world in general is gonna react to this as well.

I dont follow League either, but I remember ppl were hyping the LCS Season 3 World Finals (similar to TI3 as Leagues biggest annual tourney)

being held in Staples Center and selling out in minutes. But the Grand Finals was wack and ended up a 3-0 stomp by some korean team.

As for their prizepool it wasn't crowd funded ( 2,050,000 total) and was $1 Mill for 1st place.

I don't think Blizzard will ever match that prizepool since starcraft 2 is much difference since its a single player game,

although they are set to release a new MOBA " HoTS" but most people are thinking its more for casual than competitive play.

heres a cool site where it shows player earnings and tourneys
